NorCal Event Calendar

I thought it might be helpful to both the regulars and the visitors if we had a thread (perhaps stickied ;)) that summarized all the upcoming events. We could list them with links to the specific thread, and just update the calendar as needed.

Apologies for getting behind in updating the thread...mommyhood is taking a bit of my time. ;)

September 2010
September 4 - Sonora Pass Century
September 25 - Knoxville Double Century (official site)
September 29-30 - MS Waves to Wine

October 2010
October 2 - Canyons Century
October 2 - Grizzly Century
October 3 - Mount Diablo Challenge
October 3 - World's Largest Bicycle Parade World Record Attempt at UC Davis

Excellent idea. I keep wondering how people know all this stuff is coming up, where they're finding it. Consider the thread stuck.

BlastRadius 05-01-08 09:59 PM

Got to set a date for the Wheelsuckers Tandem Rally.
And maybe Ron can get that joint Nor-So-Cal ride.

jonathanb715 05-01-08 10:09 PM

Ok, a couple more (these aren't on my list to do this year, so I didn't see them when I checked my calendar):

America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride 6/1
Climb to Kaiser 6/28 (killer ride, supposed to be harder than the Death Ride)
Marin Century 8/2
Mt. Shasta Summit Century 8/3

And someone else will have to list the doubles!

JB

jonathanb715 05-01-08 10:34 PM

Best of the Bay (Cherry City Cyclists) 6/21

JB

spingineer 05-01-08 11:04 PM

More to add:

Cool Breeze Century in Ventura - 8/16/2008
Spooktacular Century in Bakersfield - 10/25/2008

Yeah, I know, it's kinda far, but for those that want to do it, there you have it.

jonathanb715 05-01-08 11:58 PM

Oops - I had a typo - the Lighthouse Century is the 27th of September, not the 17th. Sorry, Paula!

JB

redspoke 05-02-08 12:55 PM

Hey, hey Paula... I have more to add.

Gotta pimp my ride:

Canyon Classic Century June 14th

rpiopio 05-02-08 01:07 PM

Other forums I visit have an actual calendar available that one can click on and people can link threads to. It would be Really helpful here. How bout it moderators?

Sheldon Brown Memorial Ride

Howdy folks! Short notice, but I'm announcing a Sheldon Brown Memorial Ride on Monday July 14th (Bastille Day and Sheldon's Birthday: he would have been 64 years old this year). The meeting spot is in Fairfax CA in front of the Java Hut. I put up a Bikely route map for anyone who wants to print their own cue cards: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...l-Ride-3-30-08 . Plan to meet at 5:30pm and I expect the ride to last a couple of hours. Fast Groups are welcome to move along or go off route, but we are emphasizing the fact that all bikes are accepted, so we're riding at a pace that someone on a Bakfiets with 2 kids in it can keep up with. Bring your crazy helmet with crap strapped on, bring your kids in their trailers, bring your freak bike, whatever. Come celebrate the life of one of the true gentlemen/statesmen of cycling. Imbibing of fermented grain will commence post ride at the Iron Springs Zythepsary across from Java Hut: don't forget your bike lock! :thumb:
