Overthere, sorry to hear about your spill in the other thread. Now you know you're not the only one it's happened to.
Thanks, silentb - I don't know how far I was from the Wall, but it was one open stretch and I turned the corner, with BOTH hands on the handlebars, and one particularly strong gust wrenched my front wheel to one side, and over I went. My nerves were getting shot anyway, having gone through a few stretches that the wind seemed to howl around me past the Junction...my being more or less a 'fair weather rider' is showing!

That's IT spingineer! I gotta start looking for a jersey with a handprint on the back that says 'Push here'

I think i'd try to get that below 20 minutes (already a not-very-actively-pursued goal of mine) before trying for a sub-hour Diablo time.
Good link - the big issue with that calculator is what on earth do you put in under the "headwind" category for last Saturday?

Oh yeah, I'm under no illusion that a 25% increase in speed is a real challenge for anyone at least for me it's easier to get to Diablo than OLH.

I have a funny feeling that you'd need to give me a 10min headstart to pace you to the summit though...

BTW -- <1h up Diablo is looking like a goal for me. No idea how to get from here to there just now though.

Our time was ~1:09, timer started while passing the school. Colin first, me right behind and Chrisco a few seconds later. My previous time at the end of summer in the heat was 1:02. I guess there was too much chit-chat and the wind. That wind almost knocked me down a few times!

Like dl33 says, almost 1:10. I live in the Santa Cruz mountains so I ride 5+ mile hills all the time, the day of this ride was my 5th consecutive day of over 5 miles of continuous climbing. My legs were not giving me all they had on Saturday. Also, our little group took a good 20 minutes in the middle of the climb to socialize a little bit, hurting our time . I can't remember who told me that during the Mt Diablo races some girl made it up in ~53 minutes... it appears that this time is my new goal .

I read about it, Googled, and bought.
I wore it on my Seattle to Portland. Cool riders would actually catch me and launch me as they went by. Stupid ass riders almost knocked me over (like they thought it meant push me over from the side or something)

All in all, a blast.

Oops I did it again. I had a ton of photos from this day and a rare song I wanted to put out into the universe. So I combined them on YouTube. Those who like the photos may be annoyed by the song. Those who like the song may be annoyed with the photos. I love them both! If you got some extra time, check it out.

I took a fair number of photos on the climb up Diablo. Yeah, that's it, that's what slowed me down. And the socializing. I calculate that we would have been around 57-58 minutes without that. Not.
