"Snowfall...
Snow levels will start out about 3000 ft Saturday but fall to 2500
ft on Sunday and 1500 to 2000 ft on Monday. This will impact
traffic along Hwy 35... Skyline Blvd... from Hwy 84 to Hwy 17 and The
Summit of Hwy 17. A Winter Weather Advisory will most likely be
needed for these areas beginning late Sunday into Monday. Based on
the trajectory of the upper low this may need to be increased to a
Winter Storm Warning if the low tracks further to the west.
Elevations above 3000 ft could see 1 to 2 feet of snow by Wednesday

Don't mince words
Winds here are 17 sustained, gusting to 26.
They blew all the clouds away overnight, so when I got up at 4:30 to let the dogs out, I saw the full moon. The one in the sky.
The sun is bright and there's not a cloud in the sky, yet there's a 30% chance of rain. The gusting wind is enough to keep us off the tandem -- out in the flats it's no fun and even dangerous.
It's a roller day for casa Red Rider. Sigh.

Breezy today with a 60% chance of rain. I haven't had the Colnago rust treated (that will be done next month), so I'm taking the beater bike out for today's ride. Hills will likely be easier with the triple.

Right now the sky is clear, but the high should be 51 and breezy. That New Zealand wool sweater under the jacket is nice. Dchief isn't going anywhere with his right wrist in a cast.

accuweather is saying it probably won't rain in the south bay until noon, and then it will be only light rain until tomorrow.

Alas, I am on-call, so I won't be able to even suffer in the sloshy terrain. Oh well ... looking forward to the BF dinner tonight though.

...but the sun is shining right NOW, and the temp is near fifty here in Chico - time to spin a wheel!
However, I'm not going too awful far from home neither!

In spite of what the weatherpersons predicted, I was able to get in 1.5 hours this morning in the south Davis farm roads. Temp was about 45F, with no wind to speak of and sunshine galore! Would have gone longer, but had other home-life stuff going on. Glad I beat whatever rain is heading our way and any day not on a trainer listening to coach Troy on DVD (actually, I never listen to him) is a good day.
Hope those of you who can ride do ride.

I just did trainer intervals this morning rather than go on the River Ride. Way too many things on the pre-Christmas honey-do list.

just got back to union city from livermore. Its great weather now over here, but just about an hour ago in livermore the wind felt freeeeezing cold. I was wearing my snowboarding jacket and i still got chills when a gust of wind hit me. it really felt like the cold sierra air i remember when i go snowboarding.

Compared to what I thought it was going to be like, it was actually rather quite nice over here on the peninsula. It was a bit chilly but the sun was out. Sitting in the pack heading north on Canada Rd. I didn't really notice the headwind. Flat ride, only brief regroups, and minimal lollygagging after the ride before heading home got me back to the house earlier than usual.

Back. We stayed dry, though it was pretty breezy. I found out my Bianchi, even with the triple, doesn't climb worth a damn. I was wanting my other bike the entire ride!

Ramon, Chris (chrisoco), and Ruth & I got in a ride today. We just did the night ride route. The front came in around the top of Crestiview (no rain just dark clouds and wind). Ramon, Ruth an I hit the Starbucks on DeAnza, just as we left to finish up, it sprinkled on us for like 5 minutes or less.
Good ride. Ramon's new bike looks awesome.

I hope nobody in the bay area decided to not ride today due to the dire weather forecasts. My brother and I did a 56 miler in Marin and it was spectacular!
We ended up not going offroading as discussed earlier. Instead we did the "bailout" loop from that thread except in reverse. This turned out to be a nice option for today as it put us coming southbound for many miles on Hwy 1 with a tail wind
So we met up at the south end of Golden Gate Bridge and headed over it, through Sausalito, and straight up to Mt. Tam via Hwy 1, Panoramic Highway, and Pan Toll road. Then back down and north on ridgecrest and down the west side of Fairfax-Bolinas road. Between turning onto Pan Toll and finally reaching the bottom of Fairfax-Bolinas we saw maybe 6-8 total cars. Absolutely glorious! Not too many bikes out today but we still outnumbered cars by a significant margin
The weather in the morning was totally blue skies but while coming down from Mt. Tam there were ominous clouds brewing out over the ocean. By the time we got down to Highway 1 it was just starting to sprinkle and it turned into a steady but relatively light rain for the next 4 miles to Stinson Beach. Got a mediocre lunch there at the little general store and by the time we had finished, the sun was already out.
We continued south on 1 and again it was practically empty! I've never been out on this road on the weekend and seen so few vehicles. The road was still wet but the skies were rapidly clearing and the sun was out. Beautiful. This has and probably always will be one of my favorite stretches of road ever.
Alas I have no pictures. My camera seems to be in its final death throes. It takes pictures but they're just a garbled mess.
Oh one other thing. While descending west Fairfax-Bolinas road we came across a downed tree that covered the entire road except for about 1-2 feet of exposed pavement on the left side. Maybe that's why there were so few cars up there
56 miles, 6500' climbing according to bikely

I'm very glad I got out early this morning. No fog, no clouds and just a bit of a chill. Managed to layer up well so was very comfortable. Only got 20miles up Pinehurst and back, but given how few miles I've got in since the BF climb of Diablo, I'll take what I can get.
Poor weather, an annoying cold and the rest of my life has conspired to keep me out of the saddle. Looks like the next few days are going to be fairly unpleasant.
