As the crow flies

What's the farthest distance (as the crow flies) you've biked in a day? Perhaps this could be a "challenge" for another month where the flatlanders wouldn't have any excuses to be bitter

For me right now it's 40.74 miles on the recent Patterson Pass ride. Granted I did not finish where I started.

I figure the Race Across America winners do about 250 (straight line) miles a day

If you limit this to rides starting and ending at the same spot, then I've only managed to get 34.13 miles away from home (Menlo Park to Santa Cruz) on the Sequoia Century last year.

Only 26.6 miles, it turns out.

That certainly puts things in a different perspective!

Um, did you forget about Auburn? That's 36 miles and some change.

Auburn would be my longest for a round trip. I once did a one-way, Davis to Vallejo, which was 42.

Bikes: Calfee Tandem, Litespeed Gravel, SuperSix Evo HM, Larry vs. Harry Bullitt (e-cargo)

Some notables:

Well I used the train on the way home but, the Henry Coe ride starting from my house got me around 48.68 miles as the crow flies (> 110 riden miles).

Glen's Sierra Rd plus hill ride (which we did start and end at home) got us (only) 30.38 miles.

Grenoble to Alpe d'Huez on folders: around 18.5 miles (29.77 km) as the French crows fly.

Ron's Sierra Rd + Calavares + Palomares ride from home was probably a good one too.

Doh! I totally missed that one. Yup, Auburn Century is about 36.5 miles between the start and the farthest point.

Mine was roughly 65 miles ... on the Solvang Double Century, which wound up at the north end in San Luis Obispo.

Ok, so it's only 55.25 miles using Google Ruler ... damn, not as impressive.
