It's Baacckk !!!

Well, it's hard to believe that just 90 days from today there will be close to 3000 hardy souls pedalling up this road..... and while I did see some sign of others .... I can personally attest to only 2 that made it over the pass today... mine... and Eddy's.... (did I really just write that ???)..... while cruising along in my granny gear I found myself reminiscing last years Deathride, and all those young, skinny pharkers zippin' by me on the way up (and down ) Monitor (and Ebbetts, and Carson....) which led me to recall the famous old biker saying.... those who don't kill you, make you stronger.... even if they keep dropping you on the climbs....

There was a lot more snow this year, even though this was a full week later that my first ascent in 2008..... leading me to imagine (hallucinate ??) Al Gore explaining to me how even though I've been freezin' my derailleurs off for the last 4 months , that the cold was actually proof it was gettin' warmer..... to which I replied ... Hey Al.... this note is for young skinny pharkers that ride bikes... not phat old ones who... ummm... what is it you do again ???? but I digress...

Anyway, just thought I'd share a bit of my day..... and if today is any indication of what's in store for us in the coming weeks.... It's gonna be a great year !!!! Let the Climbing Begin !!!

Happy Easter to all of you !!!!

Peace, Love and Altitude !!!

Lou..... See you at the top....

P.S. I couldn't quite figure out if the last photo was left as a calling card for the person who defaced the sign..... or was the confession of some poor, lost, middle aged rider, finally admitting as to why he (she???) does the Death Ride (uhhh not me....)

You may have seen our tracks in the gravel at the top...we were up there Saturday 4/11....nice day.

I didn't see any other tracks at the top but did see a few around the gate at the bottom. Didn't notice the defaced sign.

Were going to see how far up Ebbetts we can get tomorrow. They are working on both sides now.
