Bikes: 2005 Raleigh Competition

Already going through withdraws.

My ride is in the shop for a week and it is my only bike. Do not like. I was supposed to do a century tomorrow, but there goes those plans.

I am getting a warranty fix on my bicycle (new crankset, press on spindle came loose). Won't have the part at the shop till next week and a guy wanted to personally work on my bike. As long as he does a good job, I do not care.

Here is the question, what physical activities shall I do instead? swimming? jogging? hiking? hockey? I am not used to having to make this decision.

Let me suggest running

to your closest LBS and getting a second bike.

Hate running, but probalbly will, but not to a LBS. Need a job first to get another bike, at least a permanent job.

I will accept donations though.

Running is good cross-training for cycling.

Hope your bike gets done soon!

This I know, but I equate running (especially on the track) to having one of my cousins throw a beach ball at my face constantly for 8 hours every day.

Bikes: A dozen or so.

My golf clubs are collecting some serious dust this year. That's what I'd be doing if all of my bikes were out of commish.

I was off the road and on the trainer for 3 mos. I ran the roads I usually rode because I know them, they offer variety, and I needed the endorphins.

Or take the entire week off and call it extended rest.

Try skating (inline that is) which translates very well to cycling and uses the same muscles and works them in a similar fashion.

I might play a pickup game of ice hockey on friday. that is what I have in mind.

So far what I have scheduled:

Thursday evening: climbing
Friday morning: ice hockey (maybe)
Sunday: more climbing
Sometime next week: golf

I think I am going to force myself to go for a small run tomorrow followed by some swimming as a cooldown and cause... why not.

No gym membership. Never liked the gym much (though it has its benefits) and can't validate spending money to go there.

Today, I ended up jogging for about a mile and a third (most I have done in about 2 years) and swam laps for about 20 mins.

Just went climbing for my first time in years. I learned one thing for sure... I have no arm muscles. Well, pushups and pullups, here I come.

Also, it was so much fun. Want to do it again.
