Where to buy a Specialized bike in Northern Calif.
I live in Northern California and want to buy a Specialized bike. Being new to cycling I am looking for a BS with good pricing and good service. My job requires me to travel in and around Sacramento, SF-SJ areas and up and down the valley so traveling is not an issue. Can anyone provide the name of a BS with good pricing on Specilized bikes? Thanks

Specialized's corporate HQ is in Morgan Hill (near San Jose), so there is no shortage of dealers around here. However, I don't think that pricing varies much from dealer to dealer, especially during the peak season. In the fall, some dealers may have end-of-season closeout sales.

if you are really looking for deals, call around to some of the smaller dealers right now, specialized is chaning model years and I have heard that they are cutting smaller dealers who don't meet the minimum order standards.

Steve out in Livermore is The Guy to see. He owns the place, and is a great guy with a great staff. Go see him - you won't be disappointed.No affiliation, just a very satisfied customer. The shop is 20 miles from me, and I have several closer. But it is the "go to" shop when I need something done that I can't do myself.

+1 for this. Long story short, I was shopping for a road bike at the end of 07, came across Go Ride's 07 model year clearance and got a local dealer to price match my Roubaix. Going for last years model is definitely the way to go.

If you make it up to the Auburn area in your travels, see Dan @ Victory Velo. Picked up my tarmac there based a recommendation from a friend. Great shop, great customer service.

You say you are from Sacramento. City Bike Works on K St. or Bicycles Plus in Folsom are both excellent. My preference is Bicycles Plus. They have a huge inventory and very competent, sales people. All are riders, from casual to Cat 1-2 riders. They can give you the best advice. Prices are competitive.

Everyone pretty much covered it. Foys in Woodland and Ken's Bike and Ski in Davis are also Specialized Dealers.

Plus Ray's in Vacaville. Ray's will give you discounts on accessories for the year after you buy a bike from them. Friends have bought from Ray's and have been happy.

Just to add another, I've bought 3 bikes at Sharp's in Roseville. And only once paid full retail (last model year closeouts). They ONLY have Specialized on the floor, so take that into account good or bad...

I bought my Specialized MTB from Alameda Bicycle in Alameda, CA. Very friendly and helpful service, and they offer free maintenance for life, although I haven't taken them up on it since I do my own work.

I'm thrilled to see you all speaking highly of Livermore Cyclery. That's where I bought my newest mountain bike and it's likely I'll be going back soon to get a starter road bike. As for the price, my bike (a Trek though) was 10% under MSRP.
Coincidentally, my old mountain bike came from City Bicycle Works in Sacramento. I likely would have gone back there, but I don't live up there anymore and the friend helping me with the purchase swears by Livermore Cyclery.

I live near and swear by The Bicycle Garage, but Livermore Cyclery also is a sponsor of my club. They've fixed up some people that we SAG'd over there on our Primavera, and it was great work. I've gone over to check out the recumbents they have, and they are very nice folks.

You live in Sacramento. You have to see the SPECIALIZED CONCEPT STORE Kinetic Cycles in Elk Grove. They only sell Specialized. It is an awesome store and in your back yard. Just go down I-5 and exit Elk Grove BLVD. It's the first right.
