Maybe that's why I'm destined to ride solo for the rest of my life. I don't take too kindly to any "rules" of cycling unless they have to do with common sense. In fact, the more people try to say that you have to look and act "cool", the more I will distance myself from such people.
That's a good commercial. We need more commercials like these in the US.

I'm glad we all agree that it is a good idea to use safety equipment to make us more visible to motorists at night. Let's take it a step further and ditch the idea that it is "dorky" or "uncool" to use safety equipment. Assuming we are all adults in this thread, there is no reason to give a shyt about being "cool". That's for teenagers, not grown men and women. Being safe is much more important than looking like a wannabe pro cyclist.
Maybe there would be fewer bike-vs-car accidents if people didn't concern themselves with looking "cool".

It did help me tonight for sure to get home as I was a little late on my ride!

I used to ride with a couple Cateye blinkies in front, but a few close calls let me know that I needed even more light. Now I run a 200 lumen Dinotte in addition to the Cateyes. Trust me, if people would just be more aware of their surroundings I wouldn't feel the need to ride with 3 front lights. One or two (in case of malfunction) would be plenty in an ideal world.

It's better than getting hit, but I hate it when cars zoom up on the left, put on their right hand signal and then slow down or stop and wait for me to pass. I usually stop and unclip since I don't trust what they're going to do.
