The ride is already sold out, weather looks real nice. Did a ride on Road 144 out of Courtland on Sunday, beautiful day. Looking for more of the same this Sunday.

RidewithGPS shows a total of 180' elevation gain. Should be a fun ride, but extra credit for all that flat country, butt-in-the-saddle time

MyLilPony and I hope to be on the road a bit earlier, maybe 8:30.
In my rich fantasy life we'll finish early enough to ride up to Plymouth and pick up some wine we bought that's waiting for us. But we'd need to get there by 5.

Beautiful day! Wheels down at 9:40, lazy start for a long lazy ride. Some good wineries as well, more hits than misses which was nice. We took the shortcut, as I had originally plan to do the 35 mile option. It was my S.O.'s first significant ride.

Very enjoyable ride. Nice that they could dial up such great weather. Roads are in quite good shape with very little traffic. This is a nice way to nearly end the organized ride season although we're definite for Palm Springs and thinking about Borrego Springs, both of which we've done previously.

As stated above, the weather was perfect and the fields gorgeous in the sunshine.
MarkoPolo and I both made it to Lodi earlier than planned, so we were able to meet up with cccorlew and MyLi'lPony. In fact, we started before them and met them when they wheeled into one of the first wineries as we were about to wheel out.
For the rest of the ride, we had fun pedaling and jawing and tasting and eating. Every so often, one or two of us would get a bee in our bonnet(s) and tear on up the road at a pace we - or at least I - usually eschew. Hey, the roads were dead flat, and one was never further than a small handful of miles from an excuse to stop, visit a winery, and recalibrate to a more reasonable pace before one or more thighs, knees and/or lungs exploded. But for those couple of miles, it was fun to pretend to play the "I Could Be A Racer If I Wanted To Be" game. Hey, even an old guy can dream . . . .
To be strictly accurate, it wasn't all flat. There were two climbs; both of them were freeway overpasses. So 48-point-something miles, with the number of feet climbing well into the double digits. Great weather, great ride, great company.

Life on the Lodi roads is hard, as you can see, but MarkoPolo and Bikingsheaer try to make the best of it.

Some horrific news, from email and Facebook. The woman is 93, we saw all the police and the ambulance as we passed the house.
Hello participants,
A woman who lives on the course was attacked in her home and brutally beaten around 11:30-12 pm as she was enjoying watching riders go by from her home on Armstrong Rd just west of Hwy 99. Thieves were parked in front of her home and took televisions. We need a vehicle description. If you saw a car being loaded with TV's or any vehicles driving sporadically in that area please call Sheriffs at (209) 468-4505.
Thank you,
Giro Administration

We at DV are very upset to read about the victim of this senseless crime. There were a lot of gopro camera's on the route. If anyone on this board had one running in the area of where this occurred, it would be helpful to review.

Don't mince words
Look at those gorgeous pics! Glad you all had a great ride.
I had to work in the afternoon so stayed local...the weather was indeed brilliant. c_gallagh was having back issues and couldn't ride at all.
Maybe next year...

Great to see and ride with Curtis, Tricia and Rich on a beautiful day. I particularly like the "ride a few miles, taste some wine... ride a few miles, take a rest... ride a few miles, taste some more wine" style of the Giro d' Vino. The most leisurely "almost 50" miles I've ever ridden.
BTW, Curtis... maybe take a rag to the bottom of your top tube. You could get a disease from that thing!
