Route to Monte Cristo?

A friend of mine loves ghost towns and wants to ride to Monte Cristo, near Barlow Pass. We don't want to walk our bikes across the fallen log over the Sauk. I've heard there are two other routes in, a cleanup road and a bypass road. That's about all I know about either of those options. I'm hoping somebody has or can point me to a GPS track for either/both roads? Partly for navigation, partly to see the elevation profile, my friend had an accident and is nervous about steep descents so I'd like to show her ahead of time.

Also, any thoughts on smart this will be like on a gravel bike?

I'll post gps tracks later. Don't think about going on less than a MTB with suspension and fat tires.
