I work 10 hour shifts for six straight days, so the only riding I get to do during that time is to and from work. But then I get 8 sweeeeeeet days of freedom.

I live in Seattle and just getting back into biking after a rather legnthy hiatus. Sore knees from hiking have brought me back to bikes. Low on funds for a bike right now so I picked up an older Trek 1100 from Craigslist recently. Looking forward to getting my sorry butt back in shape!

Just found the forum, and don't yet have a bike, but I want to join the kids and their fun, maybe even have family rides to the park and whatnot. I'm about a mile from I-5 just north of Kelso, Washington.
I've been a regional truck driver for a while, so I have been through most of the places I've read about in this thread. Consider this post a retroactive wave as I drove by.

Hi everyone, I live in Gresham (essentially East Portland) and I have taken up biking as my go-to hobby just this year. During the past 3 years, I have tried to really get into biking but was more committed to other hobbies. I do a lot of biking (and running) on the Spring Water Trail corridor and I often visit family in the Tri-Cities area of Washington (Kennewick, Pasco, Richland) and bike on their 20-30 mile loop as well.

I live in the South Everett/Mill Creek area in WA. Just getting back into biking. Right now all I have is a GT Outpost fitted with some 1.4" city tires. So far this week I've racked up 28.6 miles!

I found this thread and thought I'd post, though I don't live in the Pacific NW any more. I'm 59 and was born in Seattle and lived in the Seattle/Tacoma area for the next 58 years. I have always ridcden motorcycles on and off road and have ridden all over Wa. and Oregon. Tragically, I didn't do nany serious bicycling until after we moved to the Big Island of Hawaii last year. We bought a house near Keaau and the seller threw in a cheap mountain bike rather than ship it back to the mainland. I've been riding and equiping the bike with some goodies. I've worked out in gyms since I was 49, so am in decent shape for my age, so bicycling wasn't too difficult to transition into.
I lived the six years before the big move in Puyallup after living in Bonney Lake for 28 years. Bonney Lake sucks, but there are great places to ride bikes and motorcycles all over.

I'm out of Florence and back in Eugene! I've been looking at the GEARs webpage, has anyone had any experience with that group? It looks like they only have rides that would be suitable for me (ie: sloooooow) about once a month.

Somebody down there had a free Century a couple of months ago. It sounded nice but too far for me.

Howdy.
I live a few miles east of Renton, WA. After a couple decades-long hiatus and a job change (retirement), I've dusted off my trusty 80's Schwinn Cimarron and started riding it. I've been thinking of using it to go into town for errands, to visit my mother (she lives in a senior's complex), or just ride. The problem is there are substantial hills to negotiate to get back home. I'm game in the nice half of the year when the days are longer and I'm not pressed for time, but this time of year when the days are short and wet, I'm leaning toward paying the Metro bus driver to give me a ride.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions regarding using the bus racks? I've checked the info at the Metro website and it looks pretty straight-forward. I may even make it part of a longer range strategy of minimizing the use of my car for longer trips.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks for the note. I clicked on your blog and then your shop website. I went to CWSC in the late 60's/early 70's. Ellensburg has a special place in my heart. While we don't get over that way much lately, I look forward to stopping by your shop next time we're in E-burg. Thanks for the welcome and suggestions.

Originally from Seattle, been in Bend OR for 19 years. Commute a few days a week to work on road bike to Mt Bachelor. We commute home on Mt Bikes with up to 35 miles of single track. I lead a annual ride in Bend that covers 5 of the best century rides around. Pretty much living the dream.
Enjoy
