Anyhow, looking forward to chatting with you all in the future.

Are you originally from Redmond?

A group ride sounds like fun.

The hard part is to figure out where to meet! It does sound as if there is starting to be quite a contingent of Soos Creek and vicinity folks, though.

Please note that I am quite slow, though :p .

Logging in as one MORE east hill'er. Kent in da house.

I might just be slower than you East Hill, so you'll have plenty company! You just mentioned a possible meeting place...Soos Creek!

East Hill 10-19-07 03:15 PM

Soos Creek would be a good starting point for us East Hillers/Covingtonians/etc.

I'm at the north end, but would be happy to start at the south end if that's more convenient for folks. BSC is not really a long ride, but it's a start :) .

I do have a favourite longer route, which is to start at BSC, down the East Hill into Renton, along Cedar River Trail into Maple Valley, and head back up to the East Hill on SE 240th.

Good route! Question is when would a good time be for the ride...who else might be interested?

EffSizzle 10-19-07 04:44 PM

I was friends from somebody from the east hill of Kent. He used to talk about it like it was some gang infested area where only the hoodlums dwell.

Dunno about that EffSizzle...it's pretty quiet in our area. The biggest excitement so far had been the eeriely clad kids doing the rounds on Halloween.

Mornings are always good...if we use the CRT to MV back to East Hill route, starting around 8.00 am on a Sunday would be good. The CRT is a gradual climb along a nice, quiet MUP (not much used, especially towards the MV end), a little bit of mixing it up with fun traffic in MV where the route passes by Highway 18, and then some nice little rolling hills by Tahoma HS. The return trip is on a surface road, but the traffic is used to cyclists, and I've never had any problems riding along there. It generally takes about 2 and a half, three hours including any stops.

I can't make it this Sunday, but perhaps next week?

On the other hand, if anyone would like to simply have me act as a tour guide, send me a PM :) .

I have to agree. There are pockets where it's not great, and there are quite a few apartment complexes along 240th and also along Benson Highway (with the usual problems which crop up in any apartment complex), but the actual neighbourhoods are pretty quiet.

This Sunday won't work for me either...and I second on the next Sunday. Anyone else who would want to join? I have another friend who's interested.

I should make this a separate thread, eh?

Not sure if I said howdy on this thread. I'm on Camano Island...nope there is no ferry...we have ramps and a landing strip :)

We have our share believe me. And, it seems to be getting closer and closer to us.

I would have never thought...I guess the bridge doesn't really keep people out, but there's really not much in the way of town there. Must be coming in from Marysville or Arlington?

Hm.

Last summer we had a series of home break-ins by a couple of teens (not our house but here on the island). They eventually caught them. They were hiding out in the forest on the south end.

My kid's bike was stolen right off our front lawn a few years ago. Now we lock everything in the garage...out of sight out of mind.

Corvallis, OR here. I ride to campus every day, some days twice. It's about 4 miles from where I live, so a short commute compared to a lot of you.

The nice part of corvallis is that you can get easily anywhere by bike and it's so bike friendly!

Clackamas County, OR - Sunnyside neighborhood, near the KEX radio towers

Vancouver, Washington here. I commute every day 20 to 40 miles depending on time and the weather. I love taking the long way home!
Ciao.
