Organized rides in Eugene this weekend?

Anyone know of a ride this weekend in the Eugene area? I'm going to be down in that area and want to put in a good 75-80 miler on Sat or Sun morning. I couldn't find anything on the net about a local ride planned, but maybe someone on here knows of a group planning a longer ride @17-20mph?

Failing that can anyone recommend a long route from the Pleasant Hill area? I'm familiar with most of the surrounding roads, but not for the distance I have planned.

Thanks in adv.

GEARs Bicycle Club has a group ride on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Saturday 9:00 at Alton Baker Park, 44 mile ride southeast of town toward Mt Pisgah and Creswell.

Sunday 9:00 at Alton Baker Park, 80 mile ride to Marcola, Brownsville over Brush Creek Road (long climb through the woods).

Expect speeds that you mention.

A nice ride from Pleasant Hill goes to Jasper, Fall Creek, up Fall Creek Lake as far as the pavement goes. It's 80 miles and beautiful. There may be a lot of car traffic near Fall Creek Lake, it's a holiday weekend.

Sweet! Thanks for the info, I know exactly what road you mean and haven't tried it yet. I might do an early AM run on that or the Sunday group ride. I learned (again) this weekend; if you're gonna go long go early. I'm still parboiled from Saturday.

I assume the group rides start/end same spot? How much elev gain should I expect? I ride the hills here in PDX a lot so not too concerned. Oh, and is there a water fill stop somehwere along the group ride and the ride to Fall Creek? I hate carrying the camelback in addition to 2 bottles, but if it means dehydration I will.

The Brownsville ride has the one hill on Brush Creek road, maybe 1300 ft over 8 - 9 miles, it's been a while since I've done it, but that's in the ball park. Fill water bottles and get a snack in Brownsville.

Fall Creek, upstream from the lake has several campgrounds with water. It's one of my favorite rides, so beautiful and several nice places in Fall Creek to take a swim. I ride to the bridge where the road forks and the pavement ends, then turn back.

I thought I had been up there, but no, I haven't. I've been up to the top of Dexter Lake damn, but not Fall Creek Lake. Which road around is mostly paved? Should I take the first right or go around the north side? Unfortunately where I stay in PH is only about 15 mi from Dexter Lake Damn, which means I need to add some distance into this ride. Maybe I'll shoot across 58 after the lake and go around the back side and return on Rattlesnake Rd, that's a good hill too. The place I stay is right near PH high school, so I need to build in an 80 miler from there.

Yes, stay on the north shore road around Fall Creek Lake, this takes you right onto the road along Fall Creek, it's beautiful. Rattlesnake Rd is a fun option, you are on it Poprad!!!

The GEARs rides start and finish at Alton Baker Park near the duck pond and parking lot, but most riders peel off the ride where it's best for them to go home after.

I wish I could ride with you, I'm out with an injury at the moment.

I just came across this if you are here on Monday too. GEARs will have a group ride on the Wolf Creek loop, Lorane, Siuslaw Road and Wolf Creek Road, 50 miles. This Ride starts at 9:00 am, at Twin Oaks Elementary School on Bailey Hill Road. Also a beautiful and hilly ride in the coast range.

Next time you come to ride in Eugene I should be back on the road, just let me know.

Thanks Shifty. I have to head back to PDX kinda early on Mon, but I might mull that one over. If I go myself on Sat for a long one the Mon ride might work.

I'll hit you up next time I'm down.
