weekend ride reports?

Here's mine:
I'm a newcomer to fixed gear riding. Going on week 3. Saturday was my most ambitious so far, riding a 78 mile loop from North Bend to Woodinville. My inital plan was to turn around at Carnation but it was such a nice day I kept extending the turnaround point finally deciding on Woodinville when I got a call from my wife asking where I was. Riding home, I found myself thinking about climbing the Snoqualmie Falls hill on a 74 inch gear, worrying if I'd have the gas to get up it smoothly with cars whizzing close by. It turned out to be much easier than I had anticipated though I was pretty much spent by the time I got home.

Its pretty suprising how riding on a fixed gear makes a very familiar route seem altogether new and challenging.

Bikes: Nishiki Nut! International, Pro, Olympic 12, Sport mixte, and others too numerous to mention.

You didn't fix the Bruce Gordon, did you ?

Seriously, you managed to get up to Snoq Falls without incident? I don't think it's such a bad climb, but all those tourists are SCARY.

Were the decals already gone when you got it? That's a beautiful colour, by the way. It looks as if you left the important bits on there, so it can always be geared again.

The decals are actually all there - light silver. It's an '88 so it has the decals on the seat and head tubes that proclaim "50th annversary". Nothing altered - just a neat way to mothball a classic bike.

Bikes: specialized crossroads hybrid 2006 Raleigh Cadent 2 1971 Schwinn Varsity, 1972 Schwinn Continental, 1977 Schwinn Volare (frame)

Maybe someday when you come to your senses you can put it back like its supposed to be. +100 on leaving all the brazeons and cable guides intact. Nice looking ride

Now that I look more closely, I can just make out the decals. Still a beauty!
