Starting near Eugene, looking for parking & route
In a couple of weeks, I'll be starting from Richardson County Park at Fern Ridge Reservoir for a five day, self-supported trip to the coast and back (two nights at Richardson, and three on the road). Since I'm coming from the south (Grants Pass), I'll need a place to park the four wheeler while on tour.
The trip leader (from Adventure Cycling Association) suggests the long term lot at the airport. According to the airport's website, I'm looking at $54.00 to park there for the week, then ride about 6 mile to the park. However, I have a friend from our college days who lives in south Eugene (39th and Kincaid area). And I can park on the street in front of her house for free, then ride the nearly 16 miles to the park. Of course, that's also an extra 16 miles at the end of an otherwise 47 mile last day for a 63 mile day.
Would any of the Eugene residents have better ideas to offer for parking for a week? Should I take my friend up on the offer of on-street parking, or should I cough up the parking fee at the airport?

Local Eugene LTD bus #95 will also take you from the main station downtown to Clear Lake/99 intersection, and through the majority of the flat busy area (the ride from your friend's to the main station is a piece of cake). They have bike racks on the front of the bus and plenty of cargo space within. see: https://www.ltd.org/viewroute.html?ro...1d627ee31dc312

Just for grins, the rough route the 11 of us (at last count) are taking is Eugene to Alsea, then Alsea to Waldport. The return legs are Waldport to Mapleton and Mapleton back to Eugene.
And if anyone knows Waldport, please advise. But back when I was a kid there was a good butcher shop in Waldport that we'd go to when staying at a friends cabin north of town. But LBJ was president then, so things might have changed.
