My old Melges...

Your sails look much nicer than the ones this guy owns. I still can't get over the absolute flogging of the Melges main in strong winds. It makes me cringe.

Melgi in 20+ are a hoot off the wind. The pain of going upwind when it's honking is almost worth it.

We were recorded on video pulling away from a Whaler that was going 21knots. We crashed hard seconds after they cut away... but the style points had already been awarded.

My white sails were 3 seasons old in that shot. Antiques in Melgi terms. We got new spins every year from my wife's work (note the small logo).

I have a giant friend trying to unload a TT bike. Maybe I should put it up here.

That's a sweet deal. If Nacra didn't price gouge so heavily on mains I would have a new set asap. The first time I trimmed the main off the wind on the Melges I caused us to round up big time, twice. It was heavy air. I mean..the mast was practically in the water. Luckily it was just practice and not racing

Hey Herbie, it looks like you have way to much weight forward in the pic with the kite up. Just for fun critique . (Like I know know anything about Melges sailing)

That's what they say and it makes sense for most. If you have a long trunk you might ride the same length top tube, but I think longer would be unlikely. I have my pads as far back as they will go without hitting my knees when I stand (much).... getting my elbows and shoulders at 90 degrees was key in getting comfortable and getting the coveted flat back.

For planing conditions yes, everybody should be piled up in the back corner. We were not planing.. just surfing some.

Depends on the builder. Giant's website lists M/L as 53.5. Cinelli's Medium frame is 53cm.

You can tell you are out of touch when 10+ Facebook contacts post about the same subject and you have no idea what it is.

Maybe I'm just large then. I'm 5'11.5-6'0 depending on the gravitational pull of the moon. I ride 57. I've never considered myself a "large" in terms of height. I have a 33 inseam.

I have ridden a 56 TCR before though; it felt like it fit perfectly. If you dropped that to a 53 I imagine it would be way too small.

Wholesome goodness is missing in FB. It is a scary place sometimes.

It's OK. I can rival Pcad in self-oratory.
