I just have been browsing through this thread to refresh my memory about all the wonderful people who provided their support by posting on it.
The cycling has been OK for me. Machka has now arranged for us to do 50km rides a month under the Australian Audax system. So that means having the rides' starts, finishes and maybe a checkpoint signed. The 12 done in any of the consecutive months are recorded after finishing as normal randonnees, and there is an award at the end of the year.
So... apart from that, I hope everyone in this 50-plus group is good and healthy in what has been difficult times everywhere in world. Oh, and part of the great news is that Machka finished off her Masters Degree at university.

And yes, I graduated in December 2020.
Then I returned to take an online course on Traumatic Brain Injury in June & July.

Further Update:
In May 2021, on one of our 50 km rides, Rowan had a heart attack! It was an NSTEMI - mild heart attack - and Rowan is now on heart medications.
Then in August ... Rowan turned 66. He's still going!!

Thanks for the updates! It’s great to hear that cycling still plays a part in what you do.

Wow. I take a break from BF for quite a while and then find this. Rowan and Machka, it is quite the story to read in one sitting, knowing the great length of time it's spread out. I guess it has saved me the heartache wondering how things are going from the initial news but I feel badly about not being able to add my support over the years as has everyone else. Thanks for sharing your story..er..many stories. I'm so glad for the remarkable recovery. My limited experience with friends and family and acquaintances with brain injuries has been a mixed bag of results. This is one of the good stories.

As you know,Rowan and I were long distance cyclists till his accident.
Since his accident, the longest we've cycled is about 53 km, and we did do one ride of at least 50 km every month in 2021.
Today we decided to go longer!! Today we cycled 64.47 km! We both started to get tired toward the end, but we did it!

Bikes: More bicycles than I can ride at one time: 2 custom made tourers, a Brompton 6-speed, and an Indian-made roadster.
Machka,
I was in McCreary this past August. Sadly the restaurant beside the highway is no longer in operation (loss of clientel). I still remember having brekky there with you and your randoneering buddy almost 20 years ago. BUT the Dauphin A&W still serves great burgers and root beer!
Greetings from Coimbra, Portugal - retirement heaven for me (except for the miserable hills in/around this university city).
