I'm 64 yo. I'm on warfarin for that very reason. It's called DVT's, commonly known as blood clots. Go see a vascular specialist. At the very least get compression stockings and wear them religiously....

Take out the wheel qr's. Thoroughly saturate them with oil. Wipe off the excess oil. Reinstall. Make sure they're tight. Go ride. I'd bet heavily the noise will be gone.

You're better off using a micrometer than a caliper--they're MUCH more accurate. Divide the diameter (inch measurement) by .03937 to get the diameter in mm's. There are 25.4 mm's in an inch.
