Walking around Baltimore today it was all I could do to NOT praise or condemn a few riders for prior Velogames gifts or perceived sleights.

At least I don't think any of it was out loud.

I've been muttering about Ayuso since Wednesday ... Shadco though has GC Kuss and I'm super excited to see where he ends up in the final - I think we have our own sneaky top contender here from the humble BF league! GC Kuss

Oh oh I didn't know we were sprinting for the win Shadco! That's why I cut that last right hander like a mofo and just happened to put myself in the red chasing Roglic for a single second time gap!

¡furst rest day recap! things pretty tight currently at the top of both the "classic" and "stage hunter" leaderboards. same top three in both:

1. Hermann Telinho-team Time do Velinho
2. Eddie-team Ranbaxy's Castanets
3. Shad-team Shad's mess

on both leaderboards, there are a handful of teams just off the podium that are within a good day/stage win from said podium.
this next week has some...interesting stages, starting with the itt stage 10. that course has a bushelful of turns and if the rain/wind
comes out to play, could blow things up somewhat terribly.

all the top teams in the "classic" game still have all their riders. some diphthong is currently 5th in the "classic" and missing three riders already.
expect that hoser to plummet down the standings soon enuff. personally, can't wait till stage 20. that potentially looks like the best gt stage of the year.

Whoa! Great performance by Sepp in the ITT! And actually, several great performances!

Loved Sepp's interview: "It's the first time I've ever started last in a TT...and the first time I've never been passed in a TT!"

I was happily watching J.Herrada from Cofidis winning the stage. I checked the standings and J. Herrada from Cofidis got bupkus. There are two J. Herrada's riding for Cofidis, and naturally, mine wasn't the winner.

I give up.

With neither Herrada, I have somehow still managed to creep up into the top 18,000 of this contest.

Y'all have fun in this league. I'm struggling to stay in front of the broom wagon. At least the race is interesting.

segundo rest day recap...heckuva week with the gc consolidating just a bit with martinez and remco falling off the mark. the three big jv boys are all there.

this last week looks wicked with stage 16's mmmbop mountain top finish, stage 17's (just one word) angliru and stage 20's bucking bronco of a profile.

as it stands in the league-

classic:

1st Shad-team Shad's mess

2nd Eddie-team Ranbaxy's Castanetts

3rd Hermann Telinho-team Time do Velinho

a few teams hovering within podium striking distance. final results not etched into pixels just yet.

stage hunter:

1st some local socal loser-team slow (s)pokes

2nd Shad-team Shad's mess

3rd Eddie-team Ranbaxy's Castanetts

a little tighter competition than the classic version currently and harder to predict given the ability to drop/add a rider for a specific (or block) of stages.

Whose birthday was it today, Jonas?

I officially hate Vingegaard now.

He looks like someone put McCauley Culkin on a bike.
He has the complexion of a vampire
Willing to stab his own teammates in the back
Mispronounces his own last name
Struggles to bench 20 kilos

(and this is just the stuff we know)

I didn't understand that attack at all. Granted, Jonas soft pedaled the last 50m but it caused the other contenders to chase, which put Sepp under pressure. Maybe it's part of the plan maybe it's not. Sepp said yesterday that there are no gifts but a little consideration from Jonas to the help he's gotten over the years from Sepp would be appropriate.

He claims it's for Van Hooyadunk (phonetic attempt at spelling). So apparently Sepp's "reward" is contingent on Jonas' emotions and rationalizations. Way to go Vingaguard. Sepp is now one baby shower or anniversary away from losing the lead.

I hope Remco destroys Jonas tomorrow.

Vingo was ill the first week of the race.

We shall see tomorrow - but I bet it was always his race to win.

"Today, I finally was allowed to ride for myself."
- Jonas, tomorrow (probably).

That's not a bet I would take. Not even with your money.

I don't think vampire-boy has two consecutive days in him at this point. If he somehow wins tomorrow, doping accusations will be flying everywhere.

GC Kuss. That is all. Shadco climbing to the top thanks to his unwavering belief in GC Kuss.

Vlasov is doing well!

A lot of heretical talk in here, appropriate I suppose for the fantasy thread. I think Juan P still has a good result in him.

Congratulations, Shad. Well played. #GCKuss

Keep your hands off my brown jersey, you non-losers. I own it.

Hasta the Giro for the masses, or various lesser races for the hard core.

with la vuelta over...

the classic game podium:

win: Shad-team Shad's mess. finished in the top 2.91% with roglic, remco, kuss and almeida!

place: Hermann Telinho-team Time do Velinho. finished in the top 9.67%. had roglic, remco, ayuso and groves.

show: Eddie-team Ranbaxy's Castanetts.finished in the top 13.01%. had remco, ayuso, landa and almeida.

the stage hunter podium:

win: some local loser-team slow (s)pokes. finished in the top 2.63% due to general cycling fandom malaise and lazy participants not scrolling down far enuff.

place: Shad-team Shad's mess. finished in the top 3.02%

show: Hermann Telinho-team Time do Velinho. finished in the top 5.37%.

congrats to all that played! a phenomenal and unique vuelta. it's a long draw to the 2024 giro but hope to see you all there. ¡ciaofornow!
