anyhoo i digress. The guys returned a positive test. 11 Times over, if i read it correctly. its interesting. In Aus you would get the same reaction from most sports fans. we are bred to beleive that our sporting heros are super human, toatly infallable and would never lie or cheat their way to the top. this doesnt necessarily make it so.
So, no matter what the guys like on the outside, or to the media. sports stars are all ultra full of themselves. they have to be to get to the top of their profession. that takes killer instinct, take no prisoners. Peter Brock is an Aus motor racing driver, probably the best the country has ever produced. as a Driver he was sublime, as a media personality he was even better. Its all an act, and this has been shown latley. It doenst correspond directly to cycling but its still a similar situation. In this regard i have respect for Armtrong + Lemond. they may come across as a 1st class prick a lot of the time but at least hes not hiding it from anyone.
End of the day, its ego and money. combine the two and you have ripe grounds for creating an environment that activley breed the will and ability to cheat.
its ok to have faith, and i can understand why so many will not beleive Landis flouted the rules, but please put your emotions to the side when the B sample comes out and look at it from a scientific and rational point of view instead of pure emotion. Landis will not loose an ounce of sleep worrying whether you think he cheated or not, so neithter should you.

Add some sort of obsessive-compulsive disorder to that list and you have a neat discription of many pro athletes.
Which is why I always say....looking up to sports people is utterly stupid. They're advertising tools, not moral and spiritual crusaders. Sure, it would be nice if they are, but seriously, I'd much prefer it if people would see them for the entertainers they are and not as some Gandhi substitute for a world where there is currently very few figures to look up to.

Not to be rude, but this thread is headed way off topic (with the help of the mod). Perhaps we can leave the politics and bashing to another forum and get back to discussing Floyd's positive test?

Not being rude, its the internet, topics go off course.
It'll correct itself next big Floyd related announcement.
If you want to do more reading, there are plenty of threads even in thess/fg forum. I guess other cycling forums are discussing it. Also try digg https://www.digg.com/other_sports its highly addictive and recommended. If you do sign up add me as a friend. I rock as mrkott3r over there.

he's about as legit a coach to Landis as Carmichael was to Armstrong.
Euro what is your blood pressure? After reading soo many posts by you, I get the impression that you are a very un-happy individual. When was the last time you laughed? (and not at someone else suffering).
According to what I have read about TdF drug testing, they test stage winners, the overall leader and two random riders each day. This positive test came after Floyd's Stage 17 win. Since he was in the yellow jersey for at least one stage prior to that, he was definitely tested earlier in the tour. We must presume he was clean then.
Threads like this make me pray for some kind of nuclear holocaust. Let the animals have the planet again.

lol..... you are too funny Euro. Insults over the internet are nothing more then elementary name calling and reserved for children....are you a child? I was only looking out for your future well being as an individual. Your health is a great importance to me. this ensures that you will continue to make your smug European comments that not only attack other bike forum memebers but also adds nothing to the discussion except wasting bandwith.
I really wish you would go back to taking your Schizophrenic medication and return to Ben Cousins. I enjoyed reading his posts because they were actually enlighting. Utnil then Euro... cheers!

Frankly, your arguments have been shallow, and based on your gut feel. You seem unwilling to even consider evidence beyond what you choose to.

In any case, the next political statement will trash the thread. Either it's about the drug test, or this thread is trashed. Pick.

Perhaps you can share some hopefully enlightening stats on the collective wealth and economic status of the original inhabitants of your land, relative to that enjoyed by the newer population. I'll be the first to agree that we have lots of work to do in that regard here in the US, but I haven't seen significantly better results in the rest of the world, among nations who sought to build empires and their 'territories'.
