Arguably Contador already is "close" to Armstrong's achievements.

Ahh... unabashed nationalism.

It's like 1933 in Germany all over again.

Think!

Lance announced HIS NEW TEAM. All of the staff and riders are not Astana any more.
Not that AC has won the Tour. That would give everyone a reason to dis AC. Next year's contact
Who cares about his new team, it doesn't have the best grand tour rider in the world, Alberto Contador.

Their loss...

Its unhealthy when one personality dominates his sport - even after he has long retired. Look at this - seems all there is to be discussed in cycling is LA this and LA that, LA stole my hat and ate my cat, LA is the greatest human alive.

Can't we talk about other riders? Andy Schleck might be out of the Vuelta!

Did he say why he may be out of the Vuelta? I was looking forward to seeing how he would do there.

Well personally, I respect LA for what he has accomplished through his racing career, and I think his
third place in the tour, (after a 3 year layoff) is a remarkable achievement at any age, let alone at 37.

That said, as a person I can't stand LA and think he is a complete As*h*le..........and have felt he was a As*h*le even before he won his 1st tour.............

So I guess that makes me a commie pinko socialist, a title I will accept as a complement with pride.

To be honest, that was what I was wondering about you. Aside from sharing your absolute hatred of Armstrong, what exactly have you contributed? It's a report from a Spanish media outlet known for embellishing rumors and interviews. Go visit a football (sawker) forum and learn how unbelievably unreliable the Spanish media is. Why should cycling be any different.

When did I say you referred to his tweet as defensive? That was in response to a post I quoted from spezi3, talk about a narcissist. Did you even read my entire post or did you go straight to anger mode?

Those were Contador's words, not some media journalist giving an account of what happened before the final time trial. This was Alberto, himself, describing what had happened.
Now how exactly did Armstrong cheat? Of course I'd prefer actual linked facts and not your unabridged hatred of the man. Are you sure you are not the paranoid one?

Seriously mate I'm really trying to understand where you are coming from. I am far from a Lance fan-boy, hell he doesn't even crack my top five favorite cyclists of all time, I just can't fathom where all that hate comes from.

Well considering the first three letters in your screen name are RED, I'd say your communist roots have shined through.

Man you guys need to move on. Yes LA was unkind to AC, yes AC did a lot of public whining, yes AB is a piss poor manager when it comes to managing egos and internal communication. But this is all history now.

Next year AC will pwn LA yet the ratings and drama will be so thick you can eat it with a fork. How cool is that?

So, as an Armstrong fan and general Lemond hater, you do realize that your view is biased by the fact that you fail to acknowledge Armstrong's public display of doochebagery towards Contador. Don't you?

You state that Contador "did lots of public whining." Umm, nope. Armstrong was the one whining all Tour long, about this and that attack by Contador in the Pyrenees and Alps. Alberto said not a word and let his legs do all his smack-talking. Then, the minute he states what occured. BOOM! The Armstrong fanatics bring out the whining argument. Not so fast. Armstrong is the real whiner. Have you seen his twitter pages lately? You should subscribe. All the other Armstrong fans do.

Dude, come on man I said let's move on! And for the record, I like LA like I like Terrel Owens. I like watching them perform but I don't want either one as a friend. They are both jerks but what athletes. And I think AC did in fact do some whining, for a lack of a better word. But I'm looking forward to watching AC school LA and Bruyneel next year, yet I don' consider myself a AC fan boy either. I hold Bruyneel responsible for all this drama.

I actually like Lemond, at least I try real hard to. Did you read the recent article about him in one of the bike magazines? Nothing terribly fresh but it was interesting and worth reading. I just wish Lemond would get out of being the dope witchhunter and find a way to contribute to cycling where he does not make himself look insane.

So, is Lemond a jerk or a good guy? I can't tell based on your "Lemond is a jerk" comments over on the "Lemond is a jerk" thread. You think Lemond is a dope witchhunter? What? As opposed to a dope supporter? One that chases down riders in races and gives them a stern talking to for testifying in the Italian courts about doping in cycling and the doctors involved. Oh wait. I'm sorry. That isn't Lemond. That's Lance Armstrong. What a hypocrit. The guy pulls these, "I'm gonna protect the secret aspects of cycling" move and then later proclaims he's all about proper dope testing. Give me Greg Lemond's honesty any day over the crap coming from Armstrong.
