People read way too much into everything.
Or sometimes they just observe the obvious.

Observe the obvious that "people must not think he'll do well", because the stuff is on sale. Love him or hate him, his stuff sells like mad, and it's not like he's disappearing. He's moving into triathlon, where he'll be the highest profile pro, even if he doesnt win every race he enters. His stuff will still sell.

He got that out of the way quick this year

wow, wow, wow... why the hostility! I'm sure there's going to be a time where Contador no longer will reign the TDF and your wish will be fulfilled!.... But Until then, enjoy the ride! 'cause it's going to be a long one!

I don't think it's hostility, just calling out how stupid his "pistolero" thing is...I agree.

I'm sure you think Juan Antonio Flecha's (Bow and arrow salute) is stupid as well!

Flecha means "arrow" in Spanish so it's actually a pretty cool tribute to his family name. Cav is simply a d-bag.

As an aside, Contador means "accountant"

yea, but since preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements on a bike is not that appealing, and He's already Known as " El Pistolero" how else are you going to celebrate!

didn't think so!

I call BS on that. The pistolero thing is no different from a big V, or pointing one finger to the sky or whatever - it is a signature move but a relatively low key one. Compare that to Cav's flamboyant victory celebrations, for example.

The main reason the pistolero thing gets so much hate is b/c not only did Contador dare to beat Lance, but he also called him out with that whole "I respect him but dont like him" thing.

All the Lance fanbois have their panties in a wad b/c their hero got beaten & dissed by that skinny foreigner.

It's one thing to "pull the trigger" when winning a stage or any kind of race. In fact any kind of gesture is ok as far as I am concerned. They have earned it and it is their moment of greatness be it Contador, Cavendish or whoever. But using the fingerbang as a symbol on hats and other articles of clothing is over the top; he'll look pretty stupid wearing that stuff once he isn't winning anymore.

I thought I was the only one who feels this way. When Lance was winning, I liked him and his team. I thought he left the sport at the top. Someone else took over, and I like how he is winning. Lance looks like a bully these days .. why be angry at the lil' man. Why doesn't he harbor the same feelings for Schleck? Ever notice how angry he gets when ANYONE dares to go against him?

Personally, I think a book titled "Comeback 2.0", released after a few months of mediocrity, is more jackass than a line of clothing with a graphic which has become synonymous with the rider. Come to think of it, even more jackass is Lance bringing up "I do work for cancer" every time he is challenged about doping (eg, his most recent press release in response to Landis's allegations).

Plenty of jackassery going around, yet only Contador gets the hate. Hmmm.

You're reading a lot into things. I simply think the pistolero thing looks stupid. I reminds me of Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore. I don't dislike Contador nor am I a Lance lover. I think they are both great cyclists and I think a lot of Lance-haters are underestimating his fitness and ability in this tour.

Was he known as "El Pistolero" before he started doing the gesture? Somehow I doubt it. Btw, I brought up the accountant thing because it was funny. What a boring name.

Then you just don't get it anymore than vkalia. There is a difference in wearing that stupid symbol on an article of clothing and gesturing it after winning a race. Where did I voice my opinion on liking or disliking Lance, are you some kind of mind reader?

Really? From what I've been reading on BF, Armstrong is receiving significantly more negativity than Contador. In fact yours seem so hostile I'm starting to wonder if you're Greg Lemond. It's an honor to have a former TdF champion join us! But Greg...

"My Lance Armstrong prediction? Either he will not start or he will pull out just before the race enters France."

Fail.

Seems everybody loves a winner yes? Just goes to show you how fickle folks can be when a new best shows up on the scene.

Hating a guy because he does his pistol thing? Wow.

I for one look forward to Armstrong retiring so these endless arguments can come to an end.

I do know a lot of you will dissappear when he hangs up his spurs for good. That's too bad.

I must have missed the post where someone said they hated Contador for the pistol thing.
