Lance...

So someone told me the other day that Lance had a rule when he was racing:

He would only use a bike once then would demand a new one from the team for the next stage.

Is this true? I didn't think he was that much of a princess.

rangerdavid 05-17-12 06:54 PM

never heard that one.

Juan Foote 05-17-12 06:55 PM

Beat me by 8 minutes.

Moved to Pro from Road.

Never heard it, seems counter-intuitive. You do well with a certain bike, why ditch it and use a new one that might have a hidden flaw that doesn't show itself until put under the stress of a race.

Princess envy! LOL!

It would seem odd. He had some DA7700 pedals that he transferred from bike to bike because they were lucky.

Rx Rider 05-17-12 07:42 PM

I do that with my titanium drivers, use 'em once and then throw it the lake.

seanthebear 05-17-12 09:42 PM

SOmeone told me he used to keep syringes loaded with EPO in the headtubes...

byrnemm 05-17-12 11:13 PM

no

Creatre 05-18-12 07:07 AM

I think anyone that has cycled to a pretty high level realizes there are differences between bikes even when everything is supposedly setup the same way. Every bike is just a little different. I cannot see him doing this for one minute, just because of that.

DiabloScott 05-18-12 08:02 AM

And if HE were here, he'd consume the doubters with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse.

2manybikes 05-18-12 08:05 AM

Someone told me, to believe everything someone tells me.

Only way I can think of where him having a new bike each day would be if they were trying to get a few bikes that Lance raced on to give to VIPs.

In that case I'd much sooner believe Lance threw a fit and refused to do it.

And if they wanted him to do this in the TDF or other race that he cared about I'd side with him on this one.

There are legitimate reasons to have different bikes for some different stages. A different bike for a stage with lots of climbing, one for very flat stages, one with gearing in between the two, and of course the TT bike. It's a lot easier to have another bike ready to ride than switch the gearing around a lot. There may be a 53-42 rings bike, a 50-34 bike, and a triple. Who knows, all different things, even for changing conditions. Maybe someone witnessed this and assumed it was every day. Of course there are spare bikes around too, that might look like one for every day.
I remember from Lance's postal days, a photo of his TDF climbing bike with a brifter on the right and a down tube lever for the left side.

He doesn't demand a new bike, he calls for another injection.

How could you get that so wrong? Bikes don't much matter, but chemstry does.

Pro mechanics go to sleep long after the athletes because they're the one swapping cogs, changing tires, etc. to prepare for the next stage. My understanding is that professionals get two bikes: one to train on and one for races. Any others are spares in case something bad happens.

I can't figure out if you are an LFF sockpuppet or simply another goofball obsessed with anger towards LA. Either way your act is old.

I'm just another goofball. Lance tends to bring out the best in us. LOL

Answer me this: What kind of adult adores a known cheater? What kind of adult even gives a damn about any pro athlete clean or dirty? I don't understand you kids who like to hump the legs of famous ding-dongs. It really puzzles me. Especially a greasy sleazeball like Lance Armstrong. I'll never understand hero worship.

Roadie poseurs and deh Groupies love them some single marble doperstar.
I'm wondering why they haven't all migrated over to the Triathlon Camp now that end-all-be-all of Cycling Sport has departed.
Another day, another Lance thread in the sub-forum. This place needs a new name.

Where did I post anything even implies I "adore" anyone? The only thing I have done is call you and LFF out for your unhealthy obsession. Do you guys have a website or something where you get your orders on how to attack anyone who does not immediately agree with your obsessive anger? I ask because on every cycling forum there is that group who always respond in the same attack dog way, using the same attacks. Actually I should just assume you are one of that core group since they are on about five different cycling forums spouting their crap.

A central website where I can get orders to help expose that fraud Lance Armstrong? I know of no such site but if there was one I'd be a charter member. So far I've been forced to work by myself. The fact there are others out there like me give me some hope.

A little hope is all I need to continue. It's a thankless task this business of helping cycling idiots see the truth about Ole Lanceless One Nut - that feckless D-bag and money launderer for the US Postal Service.
