Does Dennis Christopher count?

I met Eddy at a bike shop doing a promotional tour... swore one day I'd have one of his bikes... took a few years:

I will admit that Dennis Christopher had a little to do with my choosing a fake Masi over a fake Motobecane:

I've always thought Lance was a huge do**he. The first tour I ever watched was when I heard that he was gunna try to make a come back, and I watched to see him fail. Then I was hooked on pro cycling, but follow European crap more then anything.

The only pros to influence my bike buying decisions have been Fausto Coppi, in buying my Bianchi, and Mercx, in fixing up my Peugeot Px-10, that I got from a friend.

Never worn a yellow bracelet, and won't ride Treks. Lance is just too big of an a**hole.

A friend of mine was fitted by Merckx at Ernie's bike shop in the Brentwood area of LA, CA. I guess my buddy had peculiar measurements -- Eddie literally scratched his head as he re-studied his fitting-book for a few moments before coming up with the proper frame size. We had a good laugh over that.

We've had a thread in my boxing forum since May 2010. It's titled:

"I
s it time Lance Armstrong came clean...?"

Lol

I was first inspired by Mark Pringle. Couldn't say what he might've done in uncontrolled races....or not.

I think i was subliminally influenced by the general idea of Lance. I ended up with a ton of yellow on my bike, even though i HATE yellow, for some reason it screamed fast and i loved it for some reason. Although i did replace the main yellow bits today, and im about to remove the rest of the yellow so... not so much anymore lol.

For me, it was Lemond and Indurain. My first bike was a late 1980s Peugeot

Eddy could be just as big a dick to the rest of the peloton as Lance was. But LA's dickishness transcended the competition.

LOL. Only if you weren't in his way...

But I agree. Now, if only Coppi was still alive I could say I'd rather meet him than Lance. Wait, though: I still might.

No, but I did buy a Trek Domane because of Fabian Cancellara. So it was sweet to see him kick Sagan's sorry a** today on the bike I ride to work (ok, mine is a 4.5 and has fenders)

Trek will never get a dime of my money, ever. They supported that guy, knowing he was a cheater and doper, to increase their bottom line.

And Specialized is still supporting Contador. And using him in their ads.

If you want to buy a brand that has never supported and made money off a doper, your pickings are gonna be mighty slim.

So, they used him like any sponsor uses any sponsored rider? Why do you think these businesses are in business? The spandex? The machismo? The after ride espresso? No, it's the money.

I was into cycle racing way before Armstrong was known. From the very beginning the two comments people made about him were, he has great talent and he is a total jerk. Universally, I would here that from everyone who had contact with the guy. I always thought that was strange.....

You can be a ruthless competitor, and rule the peloton with an iron fist, and still earn the respect of your peers (see, eg., Merckx and Hinault). Once you're off the bike, general dickishness will eventually bite you in the ass.

Greg Lemmond made me a cycling fan. I was already riding for fun as a teenager, but Greg Lemmond got me into racing ( I was never much good, but I had fun).

Lance Armstrong and the popularity he brought to cycling in the USA helped me get back on the bike. Still riding and still a fan of pro cycling.

Hear! Hear! In fact you could really stretch that to any sports brand in any sport. Is anyone REALLY of the opinion that Professionals holding titles/on podiums are PED free? REALLY?

I truly don't believe any Brand of Sports related merchandise (Nike, Reebok, Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, Peugeot, Adidas, etc., etc., etc.) is free from the guilt of sponsoring and supporting athletes that are on PEDs.

It may be a jaded view, but I'm stickin' to my guns on this one! Doesn't mean you can't enjoy sports...just accept the fact that in general, since the 80's, the Pro (even amatuer at times) "Playing Field" levels out above the range of natural human potential.

Now I'm gonna go not do PEDs and ride my a$$ of anyways daydreaming all the while that I'm in the thick of the sprint on the Champs-Elysees! Eat my imaginary dust Cav!

The differences between the Contador situation and that of LA are significant. Obviously.
