I've been pretty patient about all this doping business, but I swear, if Cancellaura(sp) proves to be positive, I give up on the pro peleton.....

Nothing would surprise me at this point.

My attitude comes from Dr Strangelove, or How I learned to stop worrying and love the PEDs. They're all at it in my mind, so really it's a level playing field. Once I accepted that I stopped being so cynical and actually found the racing quite exciting.

But how can you cheer for anyone who is polluting his precious bodily fluids and his purity of essence?

They're his fluids and he is an adult....I do not care.

Despite all the nonsense, I for one prefer to wait for evidence before making accusations.

He never been a monster climber... he pulled as hard as possible tho, that was the reason he was in that team. In the new team the roles kind;a changed well actually in that team there are no roles but maybe the schleps. For the record probably even the max man climbs a lot more than any of the people in this forums...

As for the drugs, well who knows... we have to just wait.

Thanks for correcting that, it was driving me crazy! I don't care whether he doped or not, but at least spell his nickname correctly.:p

I just hope he keeps out of the crashes this year. Between he, Boonen, Sagan, and a few others, it could be a great classics season.

Yea, the mountain bike part with the squealing is what sold me.

In all honestly I didn't really care that Armstrong doped due to my belief that everyone was doping when he raced. If Cancellara is caught it would make me feel worse because I like him and he is in a newer generation then Armstrong.

Just enjoy the drama of the races and quit worrying about who is on what. They're all at it and they know what each other are up to. It's still their job to provide some darn good cycling drama for us to watch. And, they're reasonably good at delivering just that.

Watch him take off and leave Boonen in the Tour of Flanders for the win; simply amazing. It was because he had a little motor in his bike and not because of PEDs.

I don't believe for a minute that he had a motor in his bike.

But if anyone does develop a suitable motor, i.e.:
- Silent operation
- Undetectable controls
- Completely contained in the bike's tubes
- Light enough (motor and transmission and battery and controls and mounting) that it makes sense to carry the weight for the length of a classic, with it being dead weight most of the time

Then that manufacturer would make a lot more money putting it into production. Plenty of bike commuters would buy one.

Gullible? He is correct. Besides, Cancellara was not the fastest on that climb on that day. Philippe Gilbert was the fastest.

:lol: Never said anything about a climb. But, just where was Gilgert when FC got to the finish line......way behind is where. His response to mechanical doping was "so stupid, I'm speechless". Like a motor on a bike wouldn't be noticed at the time it is weighed. But I digress, you and "he" are both correct.

I misunderstood your post. I thought you were saying he was gullible because he believed that Cancellara did not have a motor. And it is Gilbert not Gilgert.

I was referring to the climb because some people thought that was where Cancellara turned on the "motor" due to the speed at which he dropped Boonen and supposed "unusual hand movements". They were in fact both going slower than others in the chase group. Gilbert was behind, but still on the podium.

JYL is correct, but apparently you didn't respect his point of view from an economic basis and found it comical.

Gilgert is either the way his name was pronounced and spelled 100 years ago or it's a typo, you figure it out.. Don't know how fast the chase group was but it obviously wasn't fast enough to catch either of them, this in spite of those two not having anyone to work with after they separated. Call it a motor or whatever you want to, some would call it a big can of whup ass.

Well there is still the up and coming under 23's to carry on. Dombrowski, etc.
