Watching a TDF mountain stage
Hi.
I have planned a vacation in Nice, France in July 2014. Since the route is going through Risoul this year, the 19th of July. I thought it would be fun to watch it near the top of the mountain in Risoul.
I plan to rent a car and drive to Risoul early on the 19th. My problem is; how do i get to the top of the mountain with the big crowd i would expect to be their on that day?
Can i drive to the top early in the morning. Can i park my car on the mountain. Would it be easier to take the skilift to the top, and will the lift be open at the time?
How do I get to the top easiest, by bike is not an option and would really love to avoid hiking to the top.
Any suggestions or any tips regarding this little mission of mine?
Thank you in advance.

Based on my experience with Alpe d'Huez, I would plan on going up REALLY early (if it's a significant mountain stage, people will start camping days ahead). No idea if the ski lift will be open, although these little French towns seem to do their best to accommodate the crowds.
Cheers
