Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

I agree with the visibility thing. If the vehicles are a good distance away from you, I have found indeed they tend to give you a bit more room when they pass. I also agree with the odd shape as being an attention attractor. I ride a trike now with flags and flashers. I do hate though when the when I am in close quarters with cars and trucks such as in a parking lot, my "spidey sense" elevates. I always take the lane at intersections and then give it up when I get across. The trike is such a fast accelerator and your feet are on the peddles, I can almost keep up with the cars in front of me. I am switching from 3 wheels to 2 next month. Not because I do not enjoy my trike but because I want to gain a bit of speed and to get up a bit higher. I miss the G forces. What you get leaning into a curve and banking hard. I don't get the same feeling from a trike. I am keeping it for sure. It is nice when you are grinding up a hill and just being able to stop. Its great having a very nice camping chair with you when you are tent touring. But alas one should never have to have an excuse to go buy another bike. Just do it! And you have to agree with that.

My 'lounge chair on wheels' is what i tell people. I am so comfortable I feel guilty getting exercise... or getting rid of extra-size...
