How many people can bunny hop a DF? Wheelie? Stoppie's are well within the envelope of a SWB bent. Track stands... ... I don't think anything is impossible for a human with enough talent and je ne sais croix... people have wheelied tandems and track stand them too... bents are new enough that its premature to say exactly what might be "impossible" to do with (on) one.

I might add that when ridding off from a stop on my trike I just start pedaling without all the scratching clanking and wobbling that happens on a DF. Each type of a bike or trike has its advantages.

I ride both uprights, recumbents and trikes and most of the time, I have no idea where you are coming from or what the heck you are talking about or referring to.

Dude, you ride a bent and you obviously love it. Isn't that enough? You don't have to bait every upright rider in the world to make yourself feel better. Seriously, you give the rest of us bent riders, or at least me, angst with all of your us vs. them attitude

I first started riding again several years ago, and just wore gym shorts and t-shirt in the summer, jeans and whatever in the winter.
But, eventually moved into regular bicycle clothing.
But, you can spend $80 or whatever on a jersey. BUT, you can spend that on a regular shirt, too.
Meanwhile, I just bought a couple of hi-viz jerseys at Academy for $29 each. I'll get a lot of use out of them.
Several of my jerseys are from different rides or races that I participated in, so they're not just random designs.
I have ridden a 200k in blue jeans, though.
Jeans and stuff are heavy, bulky, catch more wind, and have the sweat problems noted. For 20 miles around the area, it doesn't much matter. On longer rides where you have to remove or add layers as you go, it helps if the stuff is light and compact, though.

Dont you find is kind of strange that when you come to the RECUMBENT section that you might find people like me that like recumbents? We might even try to explain why we really like bents. Remember you are dealing with cyclist that have ridden DF bikes and find them a pain in the ass, neck, and several other places.

Actually make that the fact that the people you might find here really really really like bents!!!!

I like bents, too, both a trike and a high-racer. Just got back from a high-racer ride a few minutes ago. In fact, I just checked and 55% of my 3,252 miles this year have been on bents. And... I'm headed for the Midwest Recumbent Rally this week. My point is, you have a friend in recumbents. I'm sure that you've seen me on BROL because I've been hanging out there since May 2003.

Just saying that your message/delivery could be handled without sounding judgmental.

Probably less than one percent of people that ride bents have not ridden DF bikes. I like probably most here have tens of thousands of miles on DF bikes. We know the short comings and the advantages of them. One or two people on the forum get their underlovlies in a wad when in many situations I suggest a bent or a trike might be the way to go. I simply do not understand why this is such a big sin. Most of the time it involves someone that has started a thread about rump, shoulder, or hand pain. Why is responding that a bent or a trike would relive that pain out of order. IMO it is a far better suggestion than telling them that a multi hundred dollar "bike fit" or some very high priced saddle will cure absolutely all their pain. Everyone knows that is a huge joke.

Again if you race, or mountain bike a bent or a trike wont work, but if you are just a regular joe that rides for fun and exercise, a bent or trike just might be for you, and I will continue to say so. The fact is even today many people seem to know little about bents, and informing them quite possibly be doing them a service.

I like recumbents, too. I just don't feel the need to contrive reasons why or demonize uprights. I got into bents because I couldn't get comfortable on an upright, and only a few years after that did I start getting into the speed aspect of fairings and lowracers. But just because that was my experience doesn't mean that everyone has comfort issues. Most people don't have problems; or if they do they're not serious enough to warrant buying a new bike and changing their riding style. It's really up to them to say if the problem warrants such an extreme solution; and whatever they decide, it's the right decision for them. Which is to say, they're not heathens that need converting, even if they *might* benefit from the suggestion. I don't want everyone on bents. If everyone went out and bought a lowracer, I'd lose my advantage over them and comparatively I'd be right back to being a middle-of-the-pack 'B' rider. And anyway, anyone buying a bent for speed expects the speed RIGHT NOW and it doesn't work that way.

Standard DF jerseys that are loosely fitted, ie not sprayed on, work fine on my Rotator Pursuit seat. The pockets are lateral enough to
use and actually have access to. Now a race fit jersey or even a 'snug' jersey is another matter. I do have one kucharic bent jersey
I use occasionally, but mostly don't need them. Unfortunately, IME cycling clothes last a looong time. Very little lint in the dryer
screen. Mostly sunscreen stains or occasional small tears from long ago crashes as signs of age (and no decorations/monograms/ads
either). They get tossed when the zipper fails. Shorts when the liners begin to get loose.

Not to say I am unaware of the significant improvements in fabric tech, I just choose to stick with my present stock of 15-20 year old
cycle clothes. I do remember trying on one of my '70s era acrylic jerseys in the '90s when I resumed regular riding and immediately tossed
that horror show. How we wore such I can't imagine.

When you have found a great thing why not let everyone know how good it it. I have tens of thousands of miles on a DF bike. Yet in 2005 when I got my first bent, my road bike and mountain bike really never turned a wheel again. They both got sold or traded off. If you found a great beer or a great cafe, would you tell no one********************

I rode my highracer 53 miles today but I could have just as easily ridden my upright. I have no more pain on an upright than I do on a recumbent or my trikes. Maybe I'm unusual but both are equally enjoyable to me.

rydabent- I wonder if you might have a family member, or other person you trust, review your postings on BF. It seems there may be cause for concern. Sometimes things can slip up on us.

That's funny. Just yesterday I had a lady ask me about riding my tadpole trike. I told her that one of the nicest features was the ability to completely stop at intersections without having to put a foot down.

I found out that trikes dont need a kickstand either. They dont even need a fence post to lean them against.

While on a group ride yesterday we stopped at a small town convenience store. They had a picnic table out front but there wasn't enough room for all of us. I ceded the picnic table to the DF riders because I already had an even more comfortable place to sit. Picnic tables don't have back rests.

I am so glad I did not meet you while I was looking for a recumbent, your condescending attitude towards others who don't share your passion is very off putting. I am also glad that you are not representative of a whole group of nice folks who ride 'bents. You are the reason why there is an "attitude".

Great point. Trikes are great destination machines, you have your own comfortable seat when you get there. Great to ride to races and sit and watch.
