Suggestion for tandem recumbent?

We are looking for a tandem recumbent that can be relatively easily be folded to allow transport on a train and with more effort broken down to ship on an airplane. Preferably with under-seat steering as for some reason a tiller makes my hands go numb.

For many years we toured on a linear tandem but it finally gave up the ghost last year and we left it in Portugal. While it wasn't a fun exercise it could be broken down into two standard sized suitcases and a ski bag. Assembly provided entertainment to a variety of airport security agents around the world. It didn't fold and several times we were thrown off or refused passage on trains because it could not be made to fit in a bike car.

So now we are looking for a replacement. We will also consider a tandem trike that meets the same criteria. If there is a custom builder out there who wants to take a crack at this pls PM me.

thank you for any and all suggestions. I have also posted this to bentrider and would appreciate being advised of any other sites that may be useful.

thx

Here is something on Craigslist in your area: https://sacramento.craigslist.org/bi...109387841.html

These don't fold but apparently come apart into 2 pieces for travel or shipping. Below are two links regarding these bikes:

If you are looking for a trike and price is no concern, then maybe look into this? Greenspeed Recumbent Trikes - GTT tandem trike

Here's another one. Based on the picture it looks like they can also do S&S couplers: https://www.terratrike.com/shop/tandem-pro/

Most steel frame builders should be able to add S&S couplings for take apart/travel needs. They do add to the cost but are very strong.
