Hi aaronbarker,
I've owned a Giant Revive for the past two years and I LOVE it!! I've had two back surgeries and had given up all hope of ever riding again; when I stumbled on the Revive when on a weekend trip to Canmore in Canadian Rockies, I'm in mid 40s, slim, but not in great shape due to chronic pain issues... this bike is incredible!! We finally have weather warm enough to go out and ride (streets still covered in gravel, but this bike has amazing stability!!) and I am going out tonight!! Unlike a full recumbent this puppy is easy to ride straight away. Not sure if you've purchased the E-Z yet, but if not, I really encourage you to take a look at the Revive, yes, it is a 'heavier' bike, but I don't really find that much of an issue, we are surrounded by hills, and it's not that tough to peddle, just need to remember that you don't stand up in a semi-recumbant, you shift your weight back for leverage.
ps, if your wife likes a 'bit' of attention, she'll get lots of it with this, I never go for a ride without at least one kid yelling, Cool Bike!! Yeah, one COOL BIKE!!

Might also want to look into a recumbent trike... They are a hoot to ride, and require no balance so the intimidation factor is low...

Evreyone is different so I would agree with what a lot of the others are saying, your wife needs to test ride as many as she can and find the one that suits her best...
And then you need to get "bent" so you can ride together.
