Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

Question for Minneapolis/St. Paul and area riders

I'm getting my first bent and would like to learn about recumbent clubs in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I would like to learn more about my machine and ride with others from time to time. Actually I live in a northern suburb, Coon Rapids.

I enjoy rides of 15 to 35 miles, but might be interested in longer ones. Also, my wife is thinking about getting a ben-trike and would like to meet up with groups that have other gals that ride. She doesn't enjoy long rides. She is more of a 10 to 15 miler.

See you on the trails!:D

Give Calhoun Cycles a call---lots of 'bent types circulate there. There is also a Human Powered Vehicle club that meets monthly (Lake Nokomis?) and goes for rides--do a web search and you'll find it. I live near Mankato--and build 'bent trikes, a la Greenspeed.

Triker,

Thanks for the input. I'll check out your leads.

Would still like to hear from someone in the Minnapolis/St. Paul area about what is happening.

And here is the good news, it is finally going to get up into the 60's for the weekend! I gotta have a new bent by then.

I live in the Minneapolis area (New Hope). You live a great area if you're a recumbent rider, there are allot of us around here. There is the Minnesota Human Power Vehicle Assoc that meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Community Center on the north end of Lake Nokomis in South Minneapolis. We a number of group rides. Go to https://mnhpva.org/ we have a forum for just our group (it's on the web site) and to get the details. That is how most of our rides come together. Also check out Luke Breen's all recumbent shop on 34th and Nicolette in south Minneapolis, the URL for that is https://www.calhouncycle.com

Thanks mtesser for the info. I'll have to head out to Calhoun Cycle ASAP. It looks like if you are into bikes and you live in the Minneapolis area then, ya just gotta check out the Calhoon.

Yep - Calhoun Cycle would be a good place to look.

Erik's carries Cannondale's recumbent and used to carry
BikeE (before they went under) but now carry a new brand
I'm unfamiliar with - I saw a tandem recumbent with disc
brakes in their Richfield store a couple of weeks ago.

That being said, when Erik's blew out all their BikeE
inventory during last fall's warehouse sale a lot of people
got some cool bikes at bargain prices.

My wife, and three of our friends bought recumbents at that
time. Amazing.

We go out for rides and there's more recumbents than there
are non-recumbents.
