Roades go 82? I'm in awe. As much awe as when that recumbent trike went 62 in the 1970s, and when that trike went 65 last year. Oh, that doesn't count- it was a g-r-i-l (Fast Freddis daughter). Fast Freddie is obvliously faster.

Gotta be blind not to see this; then try Battle Mountain results, then Sam Whittingtons record 81.+, then Los Angeles area in the '80s, trike record in the '70s, etc., etc., etc. Most recent :
2006 Nissan Hour Challenge Alice Krause Eureka, CA USA The Nissan North America Test track once again generously allowed the HPVA to host the Human Powered Hour Challenge on their proving grounds in Standfeild, Arizona. The $10,000.00 prize money offered by Paul MacCready of Areovironment enticed 20 racers to attempt to break the new World record set by Fred Markham of the US, in 2006 of 53.43 mph. The cooler weather of April was welcomed by all that had endured the July heat last year. The track was open to racers and spectators for three full days. On day one no one completed the full hour. Day two saw five completed hours with the highest distance of 52.304 going to Damjan Zabovnik of Slovenia. This left day three as the battleground between the world’s fastest. Sam Whittingham of Canada, edged past Fred’s record with a final distance of 53.917. Rob English of England, set a new British record with the wild ride of his life of 50.105. (for more details see Rob’s blog at http://rob.bikerevuk.com/racing/ nissan07/hour07.html) Ellen Van Der Horst (Van Vugt) of the Netherlands, squeaked past Tanya Markhan of the US, to win the 1st Place Women’s prize and Jacob Massen of Germany established a new Junior record of 43.265 mph. A 200-meter course was set up on the back straightaway with the front stretch and turns 1 and 2 for run up. Wind conditions were gusty and temps were in the 90s. While this was a fun diversion to the hour no world records were in danger of falling! Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this event run smoothly, to Mike Bourne and the Nissan crew for being such gracious hosts, and to Paul MacCready for his continued support of Human Powered record attempts with the donation of prize money. For more details see HPVA.us/Nissan. (and not one of them were roadies on gyroscopes.) |
Was that whooshing sound a 'bent going by?
No, it was the sound of countersTrike missing the point.... |
Well this one is for you...

Nope. My videography skills suck, and besides, a camera adds weight and affects my aerodynamic position. :D
The integrated methane gas combustion seat with euro mesh back is very comfy and excellent for power transfer. When roadies get close to the rear lenticular disc wheel a pull of the seat lever releases strong methane fumes. Roadies will get dropped instantly. Best of all the videocam captures everything in high def. Perfect for those YouTube broadcast moments or recumbent parties with big screen TVs. http://bp0.blogger.com/_3vzB3gabkDs/...adiesmoker.jpg |

LOL! Now I see why lycra body sock setups are so popular! And the anti-drafting device looks highly effective! Upright cyclist: Are you even wearing shorts? I can't see inside that thing! Bent cyclist, inside body sock: Does that thought disturb you or excite you? |
I am thinking that someone wishes he had never posted a video
Wink |
If I were Greg, and considering the response he's gotten from the roadies, I'd be frantically looking for more footage.

I had a management class years ago, where the instructor talked about others taking control of your life. It happens when somehow an event bothers you so bad that you can't let it go. Especially events that don't directly affect you. The perfect example is when you are driving and another car pulls out in front of you. Then you go to work and tell your workmates, then you go home and tell your wife, and so on. The other person now has taken control of your life.
Well, Greg, you definitely own some BF'ers at this point. :) |

Well, Greg, you definitely own some BF'ers at this point. :) BF does. Unless Greg invented the "automatically subscribe to thread" function of the forums. Or maybe I just enjoy f(*&ing with you tools as much as you enjoy smoking roadies :) Edit: I have to say, it looked like some of you were really trying! |

Wink Besides, Ive had enough personal kudos and am just trying to get some other bents out there and RACE. Blazinpedals has seen me racing at an event I flew up to Ohio for and can attest that I can generally hold my own. Not to mention all the "woahs" I've gotten when blowing past a paceline at 35mph on the flats. At one charity ride, where I was just riding my yellowbike baron for time and not racing, I had a guy call his wife at the starting line while he was riding and say "ok, this yellow streak will be coming up the finish line fast. Stop him so I can actually SEE the bike that blew by me!" I just want to see more bents out there competing and pushing the envelope a bit. I'm competitive, though, and many benters aren't. Still, anyone who's near Fort Worth is welcome to come ride with my bent group anytime. We don't exclude and often have uprights riding with us - we'll even slow down! :) |

Too funny, this thread is still going like the energizer bunny..............
You should be nice to the roadies Greg. They enjoy taking a long time getting from point A to B. Someone out there has to smell the roses.............. I just know it isn't going to be me. |

You man a for real race? Like with a start/finish line, official, timekeeper, etc.? What would the fun of that be, when the other riders are actually aware it's a race?
Are you that much of a moron, to have intentionally ignored the REAL RACE results posted by me and others? It's funny how some people see only what they wish to see. [edit] nevermind, the answer is obvious. Especially when I don't see your slow arse posting your race results. |
Anyhow, if you want to have a smoking roadies contest Greg. I win.

I really just want to see more video of dorks "winning" races against other people who don't know they're in a race (or don't care).
Keep trying! |
good I've got plenty of them.......... passing plenty of dorks.

My race results are on the Internet already. I don't need to re-post them here. Oh — unless you meant my fantasy race results (like today when I was out for a training ride, and I passed a 'bent, and *tons* of roadies)? But I thought video was needed for that. I don't own a camera and I wouldn't want to hinder my poor roadie aerodynamics any further by wearing one. Hey...maybe you can come out and take some video of me passing people? You'll have to keep it slow, so maybe on a recovery day, after one of your races (real or pretend — you choose!). Then we could team up and post them here, or maybe in the Road forum. |
