I use a Saris Bones to haul my Rans Tailwind. I cut off one of the two mounts, so only one mount remains, which makes it easier to slip the bike on and off the mount closest to the vehicle. Works like a charm and real stable.

Bikes: Only trikes, absolutly, positively, no 2 wheel cycles!
Thule or Yakima rack rail systems will have accessories to safely transport both delta and tadpole trikes for top roof mount.
I have a Toyota pu so I just throw it in the back and tie it down

All you ever see is receiver hitch and car top racks . . . nice, but expensive. I've used a cheap trunk mounted rack for years to transport my long wheelbase recumbent. I don't even take off the wheels, just turn the front one and (of course) remove the fairing. Goes everywhere without problems.
While details vary depending on the particular bike or trike, the car or truck, and number of bikes/trikes to be transported, bent riders find way to haul their rides.

With the rear seats down, and my wife's seat moved forward (she's only 5'2"), we can fit both of our Catrike Roads into the back of our Hyundai Elantra Touring, and close the tailgate. I still might look for a rack of some kind to mount one on the outside, in case we have luggage.

I've used trunk-mounted racks as Bike Tourist recommended, too. The problem was, the straps and pads marred the paint. In fact, the clips chipped the paint and rust started in several places. If you use a trunk-mount, be very careful of your paint and touch up immediately.
