Trident Trikes

Anyone try these? Some of their models appear to have decent components at a really decent price, especially considering that they include racks, lights, etc.

I'm hoping to try one out, but I probably won't get to check it out until October.

You should try the forum at Bent Riders Online. Many more members and I'm quite sure a few have tested or owned a Trident.

There is a review of the Trident Stowaway on bentrideronline by Bryan Ball. His review seemed pretty positive - no real complaints about the trike and he was enthusiastic about finding a trike with this low a price. There have been no owner-initiated comments as there are for other trikes listed in the Buyer's Guide section. I did notice in looking at the specs on the trike that it does suffer from the same problem that any 20" drive wheel trike with standard road bike gearing has - a 92 gear inch upper limit. If you are an accomplished rider, that upper gear will soon seem to be rather inadequate. My first trike, a WW 3.4, had a 98 gear inch high gear and it wasn't very long after I bought it that I was wishing for higher gears.

That's one of the major frustrations I'm having with my Sun trike. I would love a higher gear right about now.

One clydesdale to another, Trident is a great company and their trikes are very well put together. I had a Stowaway 1 for a while and Tom at Trident was always a pleasure to work with. The trike was solidly built and the components were very good. I did add a chain guard to the rear idler and modified the computer mount for the sending unit but it was a great buy and I would recommend one to anybody. Trident has some innovations coming into the market that will just kill the competition so keep an eye on Tom and Trident.

pics of the stable with the Stowaway are here;
