Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

This has been a great post for me as I am looking into getting a recumbent. I am 320lbs and have a DF, but go numb every time I ride a bike anymore. I love the look of some of those bikes, but they are a bit too pricey for me. Is there anything in the 700-1000 range?

Peter, did you buy anything yet? We are pretty close to each other. I have been looking around at different places. Eddy's was way high(IMHO). I've contacted RD and will be going there to see their stock soon.

I am not buying a recumbent 2 wheeler at this time, if I was, RD would be the *only* place locally I would buy from. That shop is great, and they have recumbent knowledge.

I ended up going with a trike myself...

Nice, what kind of trike. I was looking at a trike at Eddy's as well. I dont want to buy from there, they are too big now. There is a great place in Cuyahoga Falls, Wheel and Wrench, but they dont sell 'bents or trikes.

I bought a TerraTrike "Rover" 8-speed direct from TerraTrike. They charge $149.00 for shipping, but no sales tax. The only two dealers in Ohio are far enough away that gas and sales tax is more than shipping, and they are so far that I would never use them for repairs.

TerraTrike has a ride it policy that they will refund your $$ if you don't like it. While I do not have many miles on it due to the weather, the high seat (18.5"), and the weight limit, and lifetime warrenty on the major parts sold me.

A photo of mine...

Thank you Just waiting for warmer weather. Meanwhile, am hating the trainer daily... What is your BROL 'name'?

Peter, congrats on the TT Rover, ENJOY. If ya decided you need more gearing, I'd talk to the folks at Utah Trikes and see what they could work out for you, they seem to be really great a "special projects". (Disclaimer: I don't own a trike, I do not work for Utah Trikes! ) Most of all HAVE FUN!!

That's the plan if I decide I need/want more/or lower gears. They have a kit to put a triple up front...

Same as here - I don't have much of an imagination. Lurked for a few months/then finally registered a week or two ago.
