Are Recumbent Seats Ever Interchangeable?

I have a new Lightening Phantom and am pretty happy with it but I'd like to try a different seat, a Rans or Baccetta, or the Organic Engines rigid seat, for example. Has anyone switched seats like this and if so, what modifications did you have to make?

Seat swapping is a frequent mod by those who note the greener grass on the other side of the fence.
People have written up the Rans on almost any bike, the M1 carbon on a lot of bikes and a Rotator
Ti seat on a Baccheta. Mild to considerable ingenuity is required to do this and details depend on the
bike and the proposed seat. I am happy with my seat. The one time I rode a P38 I noted no problems
on the brief ride but when stopped and the legs were on the ground the bar across the front of the seat
pressed uncomfortably on the hamstrings. Main problem with the Rans seat is its cerca 7# weight.

Check out Calhoun cycles and Hostel Shoppes--they have several different seats and different hardware. You will also find more info at bentrideronline.com.
