tee hee!

i noticed today there's a new segway store on I St across from SHerwood. They had a demo model on the sidewalk with golf clubs in a little thingey on it. Tee hee!

*point and laugh*

I love the Segway, you get all the advantages of walking, but without all the dignity.

After the Hains debacle and pirates scattered to the wind to beat the storm that was brewing, Rince and I saw a guy coming down the sidewalk on that model, complete with golf clubs, and TALKING ON HIS CELL PHONE. It was... beyond the words we have in this language to accurately describe such a tool. shudder.

chimblysweep 04-24-06 03:00 PM

sounds like it was without all the dignity.

When LBK and I left the accident scene on Sunday a guy on a segway (I think it was their large model with the "offroad" tires, or should I just say their "SUV model") came the other way on the sidewalk. Besides the luggage rack, he had a big golf bag with clubs attached to the segay. And he was on the phone!!!

team pirate... anyone interested in hitting the Midwest Alleycat Jumpinships, Columbus OH on May 13? T'would be one of my last pirate roadtrips... *sniff sniff*

there's no bus there, so it would be pirates in a car. who wants to come?

BoogerBike 04-24-06 08:00 PM

PNC if its not raining is your ride going to be hill crazy? I just need to know for the knee.

poopncow 04-24-06 09:18 PM

There will be a few sprinter /short hills, moderate gradient.
The advantage of riding the triangle clockwise is that you climb very very very slowly. then bomb downhill like mad into geotown. Riding it anti-clockwise is the hilly killer.

Riding is about fun, and 20 miles wet in the dark is not fun, so if it sucks, rain date will be Friday (barring scheduling conflicts).

re: Ohio, not can do for me, got a wedding to attend.

I'm glad you don't have a big hassle over this.

Oh, and have them check the frame alignment.

rpc180 04-25-06 11:04 AM

Spring's bringing out everyone! I'm all set for this Arlington Triangle of Death deally! Off topic, slightly - Sighted in DC this morning:

1) Bright pink fixie with no markings, a flatbar, and I think a Fiz'ik pave saddle? Ulocked outside of Bank of America on Vermont Ave? Anyones? It looked great - all minimalistic!
2) A pink bianchi w/ gears less than half a block further down. I think I saw the rider going into the building, messenger-like with a skull and crossbones in pink in a plastic thing on one of the straps. Anyone we know?

chimblysweep 04-25-06 11:07 AM

i know of two pink fixed riders... one's a powdercoated steamroller, very small frame, ridden by the best knitter in town. the other is a nyc bikes frame, bigger, ridden by the nicest messenger/photographer on earth.

Funny, when I first learned of a fixed gear community I thought of it as sort of small.

Now it seems like I see a few fixies every time I leave the apt. and they're never the same ones. And I don't know who any of them are.

This might change when I start work at the bike shop.

not so fast. it SEEMS easy, until Geico's like, hey, we don't want to reimburse you for this or that. You gotta get the driver to agree to pay for the bike shop work, and then have Geico reimburse him/her.

(This same thing, the slow run-over, happened to me once in Boston. I remember how funny it was to be clipped in to the pedals and slowly falling over while baning on the hood and screaming, hey, don't run me over!)

dynaryder 04-25-06 02:24 PM

Weird thing I've been noticing lately:tiny bars. I've seen 3 or 4 bikes in the past 2 weeks with bars that were like 12" wide. And none of them had grips. Okay,I can see how they'd help when threading through traffic, but you've got zero leverage for turning.
