back to pillages... proposed route for the pilsner plunder, it seems, will include microbreweries in Shirlington or Courthouse, Chinatown, and Bethesda... at least.

No more whining about lack of miles, mateys. This one has 'em. Yarrr.

The Lieutenant-for-Life is already plotting the course. This sounds great!

I'd say the Old Dominion Brewery is probably out of this cruise's area of operations. :p

Aren't there a bunch of microbreweries in Old Town? There used to be. I'm picking up my new fast commuter tomorrow, and I was planning to run the Mt Vernon from King St,so maybe I'll tool around and see what I can find.

and... for the record... the first pirates ride ever was to the old dominion beer festival this spring. the riders were jrowedc, dc_emily, the *new*guy, Alex (not from the board), and myself. And maybe a few others... I forget... for obvious reasons.

Yarr there be a brewery in old town. But if you thought the 7th&C tie bar was stuffy, well this redefines the idea completely. I wouldn't give it the pleasure of our pirating ways.

There IS however the Union Street Pub, which has been serving our types for over a hundred years. Atmosphere is right, and the food is bangin! That might be an option.

But seriously, if we go and start including Old Town AND Bethesda into the ride, well now we're talking about a 40+ mile pillage. And although the idea sounds fine to me....

just sayin

In other news. Please disregard my previous "less-than-Mayo cool" post. *new*Guy had a perfectly valid point. Chimbles... you have a marvelous way with words. And I,, well I have my gears.

So who wants to ride this afternoon afterwork? 20 miles? Anyone? Anyone?[QUOTE]

chimblysweep 09-28-05 07:57 AM

must... not... be... tempted...

black beard's barnacle!!!
thats insane

I demand proof!
where are there more pix?

Elbeekay 09-28-05 08:08 AM

speaking of pirate accessories... i'd be happy to screen those tees. (i know other's had expressed screening capabilities. don't want to step on toes. but were plans made?) my offer is to put in an order for american apparel tees if interested pirates let me know sizes/colors. their stuff runs small, but it's good quality. (not a plug, i'm unaffiliated) or you can give me a hanes or other shirt of your own choosing.

chimblysweep 09-28-05 08:10 AM

that's awesome, LBK. I was willing to do it, but haven't done it since middle school art class. i'm sure your results will be far better!

i'm in for a girly XL- if i recall correctly, AA girly shirts run really small. and can we get some extra boys shirts for the guys planning Chicago? Maybe 3-4? i'll throw down for those. Do you have a paypal account we can get the $ to?

absntr 09-28-05 08:16 AM

Make mine an S please (hee hee). Actually no one hear is really a large so make it S or M (for those that might prefer a little larger size). Thankee! If you need some cashola, let me know.

tink20seven 09-28-05 08:17 AM

LBK,

Put me down for one L as well.
We are talking black t's?
Or is white hard to screen onto black?

If you want, I can provide a template for the artwork in any size you need.
And if we wanted to add some text too..
got a stooopid large font collection.
your call.

chimblysweep 09-28-05 08:25 AM

dude, it's gotta be black t's with either red or white screen ( i think red would be nicer)

Elbeekay 09-28-05 08:32 AM

i vote white on black for this edition.

yeah, i'll need that template. and let's think on what the text could be... surely pirates ought to have a creed.

spud 09-28-05 08:50 AM

put me down for a small as well, hmmm pirate text...

Elbeekay 09-28-05 09:32 AM

I'll let everyone know the price once all the pirates have had a chance to weigh in. Count might effect cost. (i'm guessing prob $7 sound fair?)
Just so I'm held harmless (not kidding, they run SMALL) here's the sizing for men's:
http://www.americanapparel.net/sizin...hart=mu.shirts

and women's:
http://www.americanapparel.net/sizin...=womens.shirts

chimblysweep 09-28-05 09:57 AM

I think we should pay what you need us to-- shirts, ink, etc. Just let us know how to get you the bucks.

and for text... i'm trying to think of something clever, but some combination that includes:
Sailing the seven seas for such severe inebriation as strikes terror in the hearts of men.
Yarr.

DC_Emily 09-28-05 10:28 AM

Hey, sign me up for a small.
Unfortunately, an accounting firm doesn't have any supplies that would be conducive to such a project, but I'll gladly pitch in the $$.

Pilsner Plunder, rock on....I'm so ready!
Um, if we're on trails, does someone have a headlight or are we going ballz out in the dark?

lemme know if you have questions.

This is what I am thinking. I have been working lots of the overtime to buy it, but you got to do what you got to do. The way I see it, one can have the best of both worlds by having two bikes.

Rode around a little today. The brewery I was thinking of is no longer there. Saw the Union Street Public House, looks like a good'un.

Shouldn't be that bad. I've gone from the LBS on Quaker(not far off 395) down King to the water and then run the Mt Vernon up to the Key bridge and up to home at Cathedral. Did a similar ride this afternoon. Bethesda's not that far up the road.

Now if we ran Old Town to Rockville... :D

WaitUpForMe 09-28-05 03:59 PM
