New Year's Day - originally on the Winter Solstice, New years was considered the most powerful time for divination. A traditional New Year's divination was called podbljunaja (powd-blyew-NIE-ya) or "under the plate".

Podbljudnaja - (Pohd-blyood-NIE-ya) - "Under the Plate"

This form of divination should be done on Koliada and New Year's only. Each person takes a ring off their finger and places it into a bowl filled with water. A plate covers the bowl and songs are sung over it. At the end of each song, a ring is pulled out and the fate that the song is believed to apply to the owner of that ring.

and, on a completely non-winter-related, 6-months-away note...

we were talking about the iowa ride. here it is:
https://www.ragbrai.org/
this is the biggest freaking mardi-gras-county-fair-on-wheels featuring beer gardens in every town and a strict carry-your-own-koozie policy. lunch is pastafari, pork chop guy, or whateverthelocalchurchladies made, and there's pie galore. i'd be willing to do it again, that's for sure.

no need to make decisions until mid-March. but if you're planning your '06 vacation time, it's worth considering.

Chimbly...I've been thinking about this one. I'll be in Madison then, so it's definitely a possibility. Want to do it fixed? Do you even own any gears?

Bikes: some but not enough

Gosh, I must be the worst neighbor ever!

The party was great! THE PIES were yummy. the recycling bind overflowed w empty cans and bottles, the goat was and still is delicious (apparently we didn't cut into the really tender parts).

I'll be in Asia for 3 weeks, so my poor neighbors will have some rest. Chimbly, if you can take charge of the Mallets while I am gone?

But on the serious note: let's keep the noise and drinking INSIDE from now on. I really need to be a good neighbor and don't ever want another cop incident

Cheers

sorry BBike, no keys found as of yet, but your flipper is here
