Also, we found some cool new people, and told them about Wednesday Polo

So, lets all come out this wednesday and show them no0bs what we're all about.

and to those of you who do make it out... i've got goodies.
SpiderMike's spokecards arrived in the mail this weekend.
THEY KICK SERIOUS BUTT
but i've only got 6 of them left.....

AND i should be geting my skull n crossbone bar plugs today.
I've got one extra set up for grabs...

Dude, I'm blushing... through my wind/sunburn. Did a Metric Century yesterday. The winds down here in the Houston area were gusting into the 24-30 mph range.

I can't take all the credit, my wife did give me a hand. I just hope y'all enjoy them more than I enjoyed making them. And the one with the "third eye" was a total, yet cool, accident.

The Ajna Chakra, or third eye. In all my reading/studying of the chakras, they were never reference by a number. So yeah, the sixth chakra.

Bikes: '80s fuji fixed gear conversion, '05 bianchi pista

god i want to come out with you guys so bad but i always check the forum after the fact. i picked up an 05 pista from city bikes, since my other bike is in richmond in my ex-boyfriend's apartment. i have no idea when i will be able to get it.

i'll try to keep on top of the forum better! or maybe someone should e-mail me or get at me on AIM.

where do your rides generally consist of going? i'm not very familiar with dc, though i've been living in silver spring for 18 years.

Rides usually start at either the park at 14th NW and K, or at homebase/warehouse (1017 7th Street NW). It's also planned to have regular sunday rides around East Potomac Park (that is where Haines Point is, where the giant is coming out of the ground (Ohio Drive SW)). You can also sign up to the dcpirates group on yahoo ( https://groups.yahoo.com/group/dcpirates/ ) which we sometimes use.

Bikes: some but not enough

Rwind and RPC, thanks for driving yesterday. I really needed someone from a 12 steps to zero swap meet shopaholic program to keep things in check. RPC, have you tried CL for another bike?

Meanwhile, I need to be in points south of richmond wed and thursday, so I will have to miss polo again! I would really perfer if someone can keep the mallets after the game (Tink, can you hide them at the garage at work?). I think there are bums snooping for things to steal, because the weed wacker got jacked while I was in Hong Kong.

Please save a spokecard for this absent in mind and body pirate

Step 1: every 13th bike-related part that you don't use/use in a built within 5 days of buying it goes to the "DC Pirates Bike Part Pool"
Step 2: every 12th and 13th bike-related part that you don't use/use in a built within 5 days of buying it goes to the "DC Pirates Bike Part Pool"

...

Step 12: you get to keep only every 13th bike-related part that you don't use/use in a built within 5 days of buying it. The rest goes to the "DC Pirates Bike Part Pool"

DC Pirates (except poopncow) can take from the "DC Pirates Bike Part Pool" whatever they need.

Checking CL, found one possible, a bright yellow 90's circa MTB for $85. Gotta find out if it'll take a rack. All these flatbars ... I'll go drops but finding a cheap touring road bike on the cheap is hard.

Even though I wanted to stay away from the spankin' new side, I got a tingly feeling with a 2k6 Jamis Coda ~$450 at CityBikes. mmmm ... sweet black steel (and new).

Bikes: Bianchi Pista (I know, I know....But I'm slowly modifying her into ONE SEXY 8ITCH!)

rpc if you're interested I have a Trek MTB (I believe it's a TREK 6000) I bought new in 99' that I can sell you pretty cheap. I rode it for about six months from 99-2000. It's been in storage ever since, so it's gonna need a good cleaning and tune up. PM me for details.

Dia, thanks but I'm trying to stay away from active suspensions ... I saw one guy riding one down the street and his front end was up and down the whole way ...

I'm just without the beater bike for now, the ner-used-at-night road bike is what I'll take to polo on wednesday ... I'll get a new U-lock tomorrow from Revolution Clarendon. Even then, I'll probably be taking my front wheel into the bars for a few weeks until I get used to it!

Hear ye, Pirates of good social-standing: IF DECK IS SALTY THERE WILL BE LASHINGS!

oh, wait, that's not what I meant to declare. Um, for all psyched about Critical Mass, see here:

www.dcinfoshop.org/events.html

Still We Ride, a documentary about CM, is showing this weds, at bike polo time (7pm) , at 9th and P NW.

Yes, it's a conundrum. But, cannot we do both? Must we swab the deck forever, with no respite? Even pirates need a break, every now and again. Besides, we all need a little citrus.

Dude, I'm on the website now; that's a sweet museum of vintage rides!!! I'm going to check them out tonight - do you recommend the one in College Park or the one in Mt Airy? Cause I think the website is a listing of their used bikes at all their stores ...

The College Park location should do fine.
