i work sun and mon. perhaps we can have some kind of julie-liberation party at 530 on sun? (perhaps we can scrape together POLO MALLETS, my bretheren???)
for those of you with free time, i do think it would be good for the pirates to have a set of polo mallets. we'd need 6, for traditional 3-on-3 play. or possibly 8, for 4-on-4 or for in case we kill one by mistake.
RECIPE:
take cheapie used golf club (think garage sale, goodwill, dumpster)
remove head, using hacksaw or gnawing it off with really sharp teeth
attach an approx. 8" piece of pvc piping (4" diameter or so) where the yuppie clubhead was
note: try not to bolt the thing on, ok? that leaves you metal sticking out the bottom of the club, and may result in blood being drawn during certain incidents.

let me be perfectly honest: i play polo for the bruises and crashes, not to win.
anyway, who's making 'em?? c'mon... someone?
oh, and the good news is, there's a great polo spot on p street. though i prefer sherwood. something about the fountain in the middle for people to fall into makes it all the more fun.

listen.
I will henceforth dedicate all of my ever-so-frequent dumpster dives to the procuring of mallet making materials! My parents have a croquet set, but i think they wouldn't be pleased if i broke their precious relics of the swinging 70's.
So,, They may not be ready by sunday/monday
but they're on the way..
in a related topic...
care to share?
i've tought about it two ways (and clearly need to be given something to do...)
[edit] photo and discussion moved to new thread [/edit]

It doesn't leave metal sticking out if you do it right.

1730 Sun sounds good. How 'bout I bring Pirates of the Carribean on DVD? If someone brings a VCR,I've also got Yellowbeard on VHS,which is prolly more in tune with the DC Pirates(Monty Python, dontcha know ).

Ok, what about stuff from something in the animal kingdom?
re: movies and such. What I really want to see is "red light go" , rest is back ground for whatever, during maintenance and Mallet fabrication. Midnight Polo, absolutely, and those remarks were pretty brazen when there are mallets to be swung.... savy?
will have to reconsider my plans to stay in OC sat night.... for sake of party prep
someone get a hold of Network1 and Sol sinc ethey don't forum

i will contact the wuss people
and bring the beefneck
(as soon as you have the official event name, date, time, and location...)
ps - do y'all think we should set up a dc pirates announcements email list? this forum is great for discussion, but it's a lot to weed through to get date, time, and location for pillages. it may be useful to be able to send just event postings direct via email.
pss-- i don't care what you think. i started the list anyway. subscribe or be out of the loop.

Hey, thanks for the ride on Tuesday night. Too bad we missed all the excitement at the end. Our TNS crew pulled 45 miles on the night, so not bad at all. I'll keep an eye on the forums for upcoming rides...

Oohhhh. Polo.
I really need to get my housemates onto some bikes. Perhaps I will try to convince them to come along to watch us be crazy.
Will be there.
