He said "I saw you on your single speed at lunch." Then he launched into his desciption of his Trek road bike, lugged steel no less. He rattled off the components, he knows his sh*t. Soooooo, I invited him to Thrashin' Thursday. He was really into the idea, but said "Weeelllllllllllll, it's a little late at night for me." Someday, I'll get Mr. Burns out for a ride. good job showing up yourself last night. it was my first TT and 5 of us were there who had never done it before and we were waiting and didn't know what to do. Peter showed up eventually though. on a folder. and Robert on a folder. training for the wall climb. then Robert broke his folder in half on the Art Museum path and ended up on the ground tangled up in it. good times.

Bah, you know I haven't thrashed in a dog's age. It's me, the lady and the house for a while. Though I'm sad I missed a folder-breaking incident. Spectacular, no doubt.

botto thrashed, broke the bike, then caught public transit across town to watch the f***ing champs at johnny brendas. in spite of his injuries he still went through with the hill climb time trial the next day. battered knees, torn up arms, and all. as far as i'm concerned robert is a f***ing champ. all of this helps elevate the badassedness of thrashin' thursday. many are jazzed about this coming week. after the ride, a bunch of us were standing around at love park talking about the long ride. some dude overheard us and walked over asking, "excuse me. is this some kind of urban biking class?" what a night.

Anyone coming to spell drunkenly (as in a state of being, not the word...though who knows if it'll be a contest word) with me at B&Bs tonight? 9 pm sign up, it's free, and you get a free beer for signing up. I took second last month and intend on dominating tonight. I have to, in order to justify the tattoo I'm getting tomorrow.

Bikes: your mother on wheeeeeelz

I rode my bike all around center city yesterday. It's funny, you can always tell who's an out of towner cuz they beep at you. It's fun to curse at cars while blowing down Chestnut st.

yeah i think it's a chestnut street thing. The other day, i changed lanes to get around a delivery truck on 15th and chestnut, guy behind me honks, i switch back after gatting around the truck, he pulls up alongside me and yells "Do you want to die?!?!" I simply responded, "Better question: do you want to pay my life earnings in the wrongful death suit? I have a right to that lane change, you have no right to kill me for it" and rode off.

I try to avoid that area of chestnut at all costs unless it's late at night when there's no traffic. last week I was riding it around 1130p and a cabbie kept slowing down next to me, which freaked me out, so I finally turned to him and was like "what?!" and he was just jamming to his music so I started jamming along and he was like "yeah, I like you!"

holy crap. critical mass is beat, and only increases tension between bicyclists and motorists.

if you want to make a change join the bicycle coalition, who actually DO stuff for biking in phila.
