i prefer the weightweenies road forum
once in awhile there's an aggro thread, but it's not as common as on bikeforums where any thread will likely turn into something negative |

well keeping with the bad driver theme...... i was in my second banger of the season this morning unfortunately... riding south along yonge st coming up to eglinton along side stopped traffic. A woman desperately trying to get to starbucks was coming north bound making a left, pushing through the stopped traffic. When... surprise there's a fender 4 ft in front of me!!! I didn't even have time to let go of the handle bars and ate the hood pretty good. My bike actually flew over my back like a trebuchet (sp?) catapult hahaha
somehow my bike is in one piece still (gotta love those weinnmans)... along with my teeth!? It looked way worse than it was though... enough that a big crowd of passer byes and drivers stopped I think it may be a sign to start riding with a helmet hey man, I see you around that area pretty often. Green rims are pretty obvious! good to hear ur alright tho. MY Miele took a spill yesterday morning.... Just coming up the hill south of york mills, i noticed I flatted. My friend just so happens to be cycling the same route, spots me for being weak walking the last few meters of the hill and i tell him i flatted. We repair the flat, and we are on our way. less than the next block later, I contact yet another pot-hole and my front rack hatchets forward into way of the front wheel, the wheel bites, and I go over the bars. I slam onto the concrete in just enough time to look up and see my buddy who was behind me slam into me + bike and endo to my left... a cruiser actually stopped and asked if we needed an ambulance as well as a passer-by who was really helpful. we were both alright, but the $20 dream miele has a taco'd front wheel. I ended up walking to lawrence and subwaying it in to the office. My buddies bike was still ok. http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/528/photoaho.jpg Repaired the miele last night and biked into work, same route, this morning - sans front rack |

the driver wasn't even turning at a light when they hit me actually... they were turning onto a side street at a non lighted intersection... i've learned not to push the ambers in that area in particular.
trueno92> ya man i actually live at the bottom of the hill at yorkmills and yonge now so i'm always riding out of that damn black hole of an area. I curse that hill every morning actually. And ya it's hard to miss my wheels at any time of day hahaha next time you see me out and about say hey and i have my original wheels still if you need some after your taco... the front even has a campy hub... let me know if you're interested ...and on a side note; i had some dread tell me i can't lock my bike to the hydro pipe in front of manic on college today hahaha |

Hey guys, im new to this forum But i thought this would be a worthy first post. My uncle used to cycle back in the day and just last weekend i brought it up. As luck would have it, it was still there and i now have an old benotto frame to work with! First things first, Im not much of a fixed rider, but i figure since i have a spare frame, a fixie would be fun to experiment with!!
So with that stated, Does anyone have a fixie wheelset for sale?!?! preferable a flip flop hub. Im also looking for b125 handlebars and tires, and grips, and yadda yadda!! pm me if anything |

Welcome Doggy.... Do not cut/grind anything from said old frame. Components removed should be saved...in case it gets put back together you will have a period correct ride.

The Kona Unit uses Alex EN-24 rims, which are apparently an OEM-specific product. Anyone know if those are single-wall or double-wall rims? I've got a (big) co-worker who's interested but he doesn't want to blow up his wheelset.

Walking along Danforth with my brother yesterday a guy saw my bike and asked if I had tools and could fix a flat for 10 dollars. I told him I had everything to fix his stuff and fixed him up which only took about 10 minutes at max. The funny thing is that when I wouldn't take anything for my "work" (fixing a flat, really?) it blew his mind and he started going on about how he couldn't believe someone would help him out without asking for anything in return.
Funny thing is that to me I would assume just about any serious cyclist with tools and ten minutes to spare would gladly help out, no? To me it seems that just about anyone I've met while riding who is also serious about riding has been incredibly helpful and friendly, I'd probably assume that anyone with levers and a pump and patch kit would probably lend a hand if I needed it. Maybe I've just been really lucky in the people I've met |
^^ One would hope so no? Having a little bit of faith in some segment of humanity can go a long ways these day ^^
Rob is being released back into the wild? |
