Everyone I talk to says that 29ers are going to replace mountain bikes. I'd love a steel SS 29er with drop bars...

I just got a cruiser myself for the same reason. It ended up turning out pretty flashy though and although I didn't comparatively spend that much on it, it still says "steal me" It's fun to ride though, took me a while to learn how to cruise though, I was always trying to make it go too fast.

So, if we get the Pan-Am games in 2015 there will be a velodrome built in Toronto. Has anyone heard about this already? Or did I just mis-hear the dude on the radio?

Isn't a 29er with drops just a 'cross bike?

I think the planned facility is in Hamilton.

um.... yes please to the Fistycuff.
Velodrome petition signed. hmmm what weirdness would ensue from applying a 29n'r fork to an old front sus. MTB? |
anything with wide tires and drop bars looks alright by me...
|
I'm picturing a 700 in the front with the regular 26er in the back ... hmm
Worked on motos. |

Apparently it's for clearances in rocks and dirt. A little slower on the handling, but more stable. Unlike a motoGP that might even have a smaller front wheel for track handling characteristics. In my wanting to lose the sus front, it just occurred to me I might be able to go 700 in the front... I'm contemplating seeing if a 700 will fit in the rear as well, might need to remove cross member and have reinforcement welded in elsewhere.

Worked on motos. http://www.jacksbikes.com/contents/m...3x9%202008.jpg Seriously dude....stop spending so much time and effort trying to make the old TBL something it is not. Frankenbikes indeed! p.s....I have that fork for you if you need it Nerdsgirth. Should be more than adequate length wise. |
So, my minor basement renovation has turned into a Mike Holmes style gutting. Everything is coming out to get rid of the gawdawful workmanship and reclaimed materials of the original finishing some 20 years ago and the moisture issues. 2 things I'm tripping over while I shuffle stuff from one side of the basement to the other are a pair of cranks. One is a brand new Steelwool single speed with I think a 130bcd. It would make a dandy winter beater crank. The second is a mint condition Crank Bros. Cobalt MTB triple crank with rings. Anyone who could give one or the other a good home is welcome to them.

Still searching for my first fixed gear/single speed bike...stumbled across the following:
2009 Raleigh One Way - $450.00 (New) http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/bik/1352590937.html 2008 KHS Flite 100 - $500.00 (Used) Fuji Fixed Gear ? - $350 (Used) http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/bik/1352617988.html I could probably talk the price down on the KHS...it seems a little steep for a bike that retails for $750.00. The One Way looks a little heavy, but sells for $800 at most shops in the city. I have no idea about the fuji...I've written the seller to ask about the size. Would love your thoughts on the three bikes. Cheers! |
So ... Bloor Street last night. I'm at a loss for words. Dreading hearing who the cyclist was. Sounds like it was someone in his 20s/30s.

On a lighter note - was anyone at the Dandyhorse release party last night? |
