for those who don't know (not sure if i ever posted it on here), i won this from canadian cyclist

duppy.conqueror 09-17-09 08:31 AM

DAYUMN!

thats a hot frame...nice score.

iherald 09-17-09 08:44 AM

Who was in your fantasy tour team that won you the frame?

exhibitx 09-17-09 08:58 AM

contador
armstrong
moncoutie (my only "bust", didn't do crap in TDF, but has been in vuelta)
pellizotti
cav
cancellera
andy schleck
nibali
hushovd

i swept all the jerseys and classifications, took a chance on pellizotti and nibali and that was pretty much why i was able to win, most of the other picks were pretty easy/common

TRaffic Jammer 09-17-09 09:04 AM

sweet!

Speaking of =rims does anyone have a handle on a possible sale on 36H rims?
I killed my back wheel on a city grate the other day.
So... I suppose it's time to get a set of new rims, and build up those IRO hubs I got last year.

I was going to go for a black out build but have since decided to go silver.

nono, wasn't my bike, but i have been sorta commuting and with that, the initial excitement of always having something to post sorta died off, so i haven't posted in a while..

im whoring up now for a 53t chainring, if anyone has one kicking around, WTB ads on craigslist

im guessing the bike wasn't locked up properly, but for someone to get the time to turn the bolts on tracknuts and no-one noticing? thats messed.

any of the locals heading to tokyo for the CMWC? talk about swag, playing cards, custom oakley radars and some very slick jerseys.. wow.

congrats to exhibitx!

Wow, nice work, congrats. I have been sweating that frame (but in the reverse colour scheme) for a long time, are you going to build it up or sell it?

It sucks that the guy got his rims stolen but you really need to have a u-lock and a cable combination nowadays. I still worry about my bike whenever it is locked up and I know that if a thief really wants something there is no stopping him/her but you have to heighten the risk for that thief.

exhibitx 09-17-09 12:37 PM

building it up, transferring over my components from my current road bike now

definitely would have liked the flat black, the white is nice though

cavernmech 09-17-09 01:29 PM

Nice frame. I wouldn't buy a specialized myself..they tend to be overpriced IMHO...but for free?! total score.

Off to Crank the Shield. Looking forward to dragging my safety shoes around the shop on Monday after my 250kms of MTBing this weekend. GOOD TIMES!!

How do we all feel about Dura Ace 7800 rear hubs? I need a secondary wheelset for my Major, because swapping tires blows so very hard. I'm likely going with a NOS FH-7801 to an Open Pro with an old-skool re-laced Athena front. I noticed that the 7801 freehub body was different from earlier generations and subsequently re-designed for the 7850 and 7900, so the model seems like a one-off...

I'm aware of the 10-speed only thing for the 7801, so anything else to beware of?

Are alleycats illegal in this city?

I understand that riding recklessly, running lights, doing alleycat type **** typically associated with racing an alleycat is illegal, but if I were to say organize an event, get flyers done up, can the cops show up and shut everything down? If I don't encourage people to break the law, I'm technically just organizing a bicycle scavenger hunt and everyone is assumedly going to ride legally during the course of that scavenger hunt, or is it just not doable?

Don't buy that. It's CS-7800/CS-6600 Ultegra/DA Cassettes 10 ONLY. It's ****ing idiotic.

Huh? Shimano's docs indicate CS-5600 cassettes use the deep-spline pattern, just the same as CS-6600/7800. I have a CS-5600 12-25 on a wheel I'm going to junk, so things should work out, right?

smp22 09-17-09 09:23 PM

Yeah, nuts are as easy to remove as a quick release in my opinion. Quick turn is all it takes. I lost a front wheel cause I got lazy. In the city, lock both wheels or they go.

done for the most part, couldn't use my regular saddle (slr team) because of the seatpost, so either new seatpost or new saddle in the future ... hopefully go get fitted next week (i have the spacers maxed out for now)

TRaffic Jammer 09-18-09 12:59 PM

nice one!

I dunno. I can tell you the 105 we had in the shop didn't work. The DA worked fine though. We didn't have an ultegra on hand to try.

exhibitx 09-18-09 01:50 PM

i posted about bartape earlier in the race season, pretty awesome videos

exhibitx 09-18-09 02:27 PM

that looks really good, do you know if it's playing in toronto that night

krusty 09-18-09 03:33 PM

Filed under "stuff I will never need but is taking up space", I have a 9spd Dura Ace cassette in a particularly manly 11-21 spacing if anyone wants it (free)
