Long Island, NY FG & SS Riders

Is there anybody out there that rides either FG or SS on Long Island. Specifically on the south shore (less hills).

I have met one other guy who rides FG and we have gone on a couple rides so far.

Unfortunatley we have to deal with the drivers here, I am sure you have heard the horror stories. So maybe with a few more people we can claim the road! I am not lookign for a critical mass, just some more riding buddies. The longest FG ride has been 30 miles. So all of that can be figured out if you are interested.

Let me know if you want to meet up .

Thanks.

I have two other friends besides myself that ride fixed gear. I haven't hit more than 30 miles either. I was on Vets the other day its not bad, flat, about 8 foot shoulder and a painted bike lane. I just had to be cautious when going around a parked cement truck on the shoulder.

I was thinking of doing the century with a fixed. Only 60 mile though.

Yea Vets can get pretty hairy with people flying by at 60 mph. I have been riding a lot on Montauk Highway which is also a pain in the butt when you get into the towns. I still ride FG but more SS now since i got my clipless pedals a while ago.

Anyway it would be cool if you and your buddies wanted to meet up for a ride one day.

I live in the city and am on a FG if anyone is interested in riding together.
I usually go around the city with a friend or along the Hudson when alone. I went on a 45 mile this summer and am looking for more of these longer rides obviously when the weather is less harsh but am always down for a ride even in the cold.

I'm in Mastic Beach and new to riding fixed. But I cheat: I have the three speed fixed hub. Did a century on Sunday, up to Riverhead, over to Southhampton, Dune Road, back to Mastic Beach. Hot!
