Hehe, I didn't think of that, thanks. Also, I often ended up on Spadina and if anyone remembers Spadina before there were streetcars on it, you will know that it was a battle zone. Six, sometimes eight, sometimes nine lanes of broken and potholed ashpalt, strewn with shopping carts, rats, refuse, delivery trucks, old ladies with push-carts full of vegetables, vagrants with push-carts full of beer bottles, cars, white work vans and the infamous Spadina bus (the TTC encouraged their drivers to use their horns on Spadina, I am sure of it) made for an interesting commute.

I was going to suggest those cool clip on fenders for a Steamroller, but that'd probably be no good for a bike that'll be sitting around the school for long periods of time.,,storm drains and hose clamps for that ugly look

I've been out that way a couple of times to the UPS depot... may I suggest taking Sentinel road just to the west of Keele. Good luck with the commute! it'll be well worth it I think to get the benefits of a neighbourhood such as Little Italy.

Yeah, did you see me? I was standing on Sherbourne for like 10 minutes checking out this nice abandoned frame; it was a lugged Velosport with some old Shimano parts. I would have taken it but I was too far from home and would have felt like a criminal taking off the brakes (all that I needed). I guess you recognized me from my bike? I was on my Razesa yesterday.

Couldn't catch him? Keith says there's a likelyhood the Pake will be ready for next weeks sprints. I am SS however and can't partake. Should i borrow a wheel and learn fixed riding while spinting, or does this have bad idea written all over it?

Whoa, seriously? That is funny, I didn't hear or see you guys; I hope I didn't come off as rude. I was staring at that abandoned frame for so long that I lost track of time and really had to book to make an appointment. Did you see me get cut off by that white work-van? The bastard came right into the bike lane at least two times, I was pissed!

Wow, that is crazy, what were you guys yelling? "Hey you!" or "Hey, Jet!"? I usually ignore "Hey, you on the bike!", I don't want to get pounded, lol.

Geez, I must have been really zoned out or something, sorry! I was rushing, yeah. My friend who is a parole officer needed a hand with one of his "clients" and he sounded pretty serious on the phone, so I was really booking. Also, that stupid white van was taking up most of my concentration, the bugger!

A flip/flop wheel is a great idea, best of both worlds.

True. But I bet once you use the fixed you never go back. I have a flip flop on my IRO and fig'd I'd pick up another cog once it was built and my wallet recovered. After riding fixed a week I've never bothered grabbing that second cog.

Did Unwin end up happening last night? I was still insanely tired from the awards on Sunday and ended up going to be early and even skipping out on a show I'd waited months to see - Heartless Bastards.

@Dan: You still got those drops? Can I grab them from you today?

Got a great shot of a cop parked - car off, no hazards or cherries - in the bike lane on Beverly and having what appeared be a hilarious and personal convo on his celly. I'll upload to my bike lane bastardo set on flickr (https://www.flickr.com/photos/neckfac...7600419750830/) when I get home. I figured it highlighted perfectly the significance of "Safe Cycling" week here - btw, most inappropriate name evar!

And finally another bit of news to be enraged about: https://greencycles.blogspot.com/

Well, in my ward anyway. In the whole toronto, it's 5 km.

The source is the 2001 Transportation Tomorrow survey which is used for a whack of stuff about commuting habits.
