i won't take credit for it becuse i'm not the bike mechanic. my advice is always to just jam it in there. when something's broken give it the Fonsie fix. Smack! Ehhhh!

Yeah, the Benotto he has hanging on the wall is nice and has never been built up and he quoted me 700$ for it.....I really wish it weren't my size ;) That peach-coloured Colnago pursuit frame really caught my eye, I didn't ask about the price though as I am sure it was out of my league. I've been spoiled by my commuter/beater bike being a Ciocc with SLX tubing....everything else just seems like crap once you've been riding a nice Italian steel steed for a few years. Maybe I can take in my old Gardin frame and Miyata frame and he will put them into the price of that Benotto. Does anyone have any idea of what John has got lurking in the back of his shop?

the fact that the rossin frame has dropouts and not track ends is just what i like about it.

I can't remember who said they were looking for a small 48-50 cm frame. One of the guys on my team has a Red Rossin Road.....horizontal drops....48cm..he wants to sell. I will have it in the shop on Monday.Any interested parties P.M. me.

A one-year ride sounds like a lot of fun. Sunday actually works with my schedule so I'll be able to make it out. Just stay ahead of me at all times - otherwise you might get hit with some sneeze spray and catch this plague I've been attacked by.

Side note #1: Cycle Therapy's got a job opening for an experienced salesperson. We're looking for someone who's worked in a cycling environment before and has retail experience. Full-time is preferred but part-time is also cool. If any of you guys/32flavours are interested, come by and introduce yourself. If you know anyone who might fit the bill, pass the word along please.

Side Note #2: Anyone have any experience with fundraising? As you can see in my sig (Somnabulent's too) we're taking part in the bike rally to Montreal for Aids research. Aside from straight up talking to people and asking for money, we were thinking about events or "whatever" (no, not BJs) that we could do to raise some cash. You fellers are a bunch of smart potatoes so I'm hoping you've done something like this before and have GADS of ideas to put forth to help us out w/ our mission. The other night Somnabulent was scribbling away on his notes for a meeting we were at and I saw him write down "alleycat" as a joke, but then he wrote down "Goldsprints" too ... which actually seems like an idea that could work well. Any thoughts on what it takes to get a Goldsprints tourney up and running? Pre-thanks for any ideas.

I'm a little worried about a big nasty reciprical saw having a go at my frame/seat post situation BUT it would make short work of the aluminum post jammed it there but I'm soooo worried about messin the inside of the frame.

what about getting a metal file in there? it wouldn't take long to get through an alloy post if you had a sharp, new file. provided it is long enough. just watch how far you file...

I have removed tons o posts. The prob I see with the foto you posted is there is very little post remaining above the top of the seat tube. This will be a hindrance as you need to be able to grab on to it once it is cut. As far as the recip saw...it will be o.k. to start your cuts. In my experience it will take a minimum of 2 cuts...perhaps as many as 4. If I were you I would start my cuts with the power saw and finish them up with a hand saw, I use a keyhole saw handle with a Sawzall Emergency rescue blade. This will save you many hours of sawing. If the post is alu and the frame is steel there is a noticable difference in the feel when you are cutting between the alu and the frame itself. Take yer time and DON'T put any WD..liquid wrench...penetrating oil down the tube until you are sure yer cuts are almost finished. It only makes a mess of the inside of the seat tube and is a pain in the a$$ to get the shavings out. Good luck.

Man.. a saw takes hours of cutting. I have some hardened aircraft reamers and they take a long time to bore thru posts. A file works well if you are doing hard time in the pen. Otherwise stick to the saw method.

I guess i only recommend a file becuase that's what i have sitting in my tool box, in addition to my many prison friendly tools, like shiv made from a sharpened toothbrush handle. c block represent!

I still think the paper made crossbow type weapon they make on mythbusters is pretty amazing. And if you go to San Quentin definately go to the musuem and see the gun one inmate created. Pretty amazing stuff.

I remeber in Gibson's bridge trilogy all the bike couriers had switched paper-cored bikes. I always wanted to see how that would work, it certainly sounded good. So did the locks that unlocked using your wrist as ID.
