Bah, nothing good at the show for me. So I went and spent my money elsewhere. Will post the pics of the new stuff once the cannondale is all built up with it's new parts. Mtb with dirt drops, sexy. Should have my wifes (and for me of course) s/s commuter built up soon as well. Good times await.

I got some *****'n new Specialized Expert shoes at the show from Duke's. Their line is that the store is still re-opening in the same old location; however, they're looking for a nearby place to rent so they can do business around April. Good luck to them.
My opinion of the show was ... meh. The Winterbourne track bikes and Mike's Motobecane were real highlights for me as well, but the show was very boring on the whole. I guess you had to be looking for a new ride to be really excited. Trek was clearing out a 57cm Sarthe for $1199 and Duke's had a Cannondale cyclocross bike for $999, which I was really tempted to buy. Overall impression: too much carbon fiber, not enough imagination. |

Carbon fibre owns kergin!

Yeah, looked it up.
I see it's free shipping, but do you usually get hit with duties when it comes? I've still got another fresh set of pro2's around, but good to know for the future. |

There was a trek with the WW2 spitfire shark paintjob that I found amusing, carbon or not. |

I've had duty charged on one of my orders, so buy one tire at a time. From what i've read, anything over $50 is likely to be hit by duty.

Too many hours at the show. I miss the old days when the show was all about digging thru random boxes of mixed up stuff to find the gems.
A couple of folks have asked recently about budget tri/tt bikes. We have a used Litespeed Ultimate with Syntace bars and 9sp Dura-Ace for $999. Its in excellent shape, best bit of used gear I have seen. 54cm. Goldsprints have been interesting...everything from 10 year old girls to 75 year old guys going head to head. Good times |
How old's the ultimate?
Sounds like a great deal. Yeah- I was dissapointed that there wasn't even a sportswap booth. For the stuff they had there vs the deals it's pretty much internet shopping in person. It is nice to get out and check out who has what and see a bunch of folks though. |

Best way to find out is to call Canada customs and ask what the duties are on the product, and ship USPS/Canada Post. Way cheaper brokerage fees. |

Duty is a set % charge of the price of the product. Brokerage is how much some company is screwing you to bring the package into the country. Taxes are what I paid on the bike swag I bought at your store today.

Yeah, some people use the term customs/duties interchangeably and they're sort of ambiguous sometimes. I order off PBK all the time and usually don't even get charged anything.

That is not a real Masi. It is a corporate, made in Taiwan generic bike, with a name that represents a long-gone era when high end racing bikes were built by hand by craftsmen. The original Masi is long gone.
That jersey on the other hand is top notch! |

This summer, a guy from around here emailed me to ask for advice on off the shelf bikes and I sent him a list of stuff he could get but also told him to check out craigslist for suitable road frames... Sure enough, he ended up with my old Bianchi that the guy never ended up building up. Fortunately, he paid exactly what I sold it for which wasn't much... |
