hah.. no, I just like good coffee and friendly service and I feel that when someone does me good, I'll return the favor with lots of free word of mouth advertising for them. Particularly for new/struggling businesses just because I want them to stick around for selfish reasons. :)

Gone to Montreal for the weekend! L8R MSTRB8RS!!

I'll take pictures. But Mark takes better pictures. So bug him for pictures. ROCK AND ROLL

TRaffic Jammer 11-02-07 09:31 AM

Go git 'em !!! have fun ... MTL lanes tend to be narrower in the core than here. Just sayin'. If they haven't changed the light system the lights change red to green with no common red for 2-3 seconds, unlike here. It can make for some interestingly fast cars entering the intersection...especially at night. Scope it out.

Danhalen 11-02-07 09:45 AM

Ooh them's good tips. Thanks Andrew!

somnambulant 11-02-07 09:58 AM

Yeah, the lack of a common red is really sketchy I find. Jay walkers are a lot more daring in MTL as well, and tend to move in large packs, presumably to easier feast on the goo inside your helmet. :P

TRaffic Jammer 11-02-07 10:17 AM

Hells yes WES, good tip.... jaywalking is a sport there, and no biker is gonna scare em off their line. The door zone is oh so much more. You can find ppl standing in between lanes waiting to continue jaywalking. There is no assumption of ROW anywhere in that city....it's every road user for themselves. Watch yourself and enjoy buying beer at the corner store.

If the race takes you into Old Montreal, be prepared to get off the seat and be light and flexible on your bars, as wiping around a corner unto cobblestones can vibrate /bounce you around if unawares. Having just been in Europe you may find yourself more adept at this. I'm think the theme of the race might likely keep you around the mountain and the big cemetery up there. Fun hill to shoot and a slog to climb as it never seems to end.

Cyclist stabs motorist on College Street (Allegedly)

When we were at Manic yesterday they were playing Black Sabbath. I walk in this morning (I just had a craving for a pumpkin cookie is alls) and they're playing it still/again. Good times.

Also, what's up with elitist roadie scum? There's a guy in my building that commutes in full kit on various high end road bikes who won't even make eye contact with my lowly fixie riding self, even after I chatted bikes with him once. The fawker didn't even hold the elevator for me this morning when I was like 15' behind him. I hate people.

you're obviously not a serious cyclist if you're commuting in plebian street clothes. this going fast is serious business!

You live in my building?? ;)

Trust the media....
http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/273019

amazing what a few differences in phrasing can do ...NP has us looking for a killer courier potentially, but if the bike was left behind that eliminates that train of thought.

jeremywhitehorn 11-02-07 10:57 AM

i love that national post report: guy riding a non-fancy bike who gets pissed off at car traffic must be a messenger. no messenger is leaving their bike behind...

TRaffic Jammer 11-02-07 11:10 AM

trying to picture a messenger that needs to resort to stabbing drivers' in the face with a screw driver. I'm just as susceptible to Road rage as the next guy but puhleease.

I always used a box-cutter.

jeremywhitehorn 11-02-07 11:20 AM

i was going to say a multi-tool would be more handy. "i'll stab you with my chain breaker! hiii-awww!"

TRaffic Jammer 11-02-07 11:28 AM

see? Two great suggestions!!!! screwdriver indeed...all those extra grams being lugged around... .silly really  While I did lug extra grams when messin', they were usually gone by endOday. :p ...and in losing those grams so did my rage magically subside .....

Re: face stabbing, that was John from C.T. He was out test riding a customer's bike and well, things happen.

somnambulant 11-02-07 11:53 AM

that's quite a test ride! :P

I was talking to Briana (from cx) last night and she was giving John mad props. :)

I've never gone, but from what I hear VIP has big cushy seats with little tables in a much smaller theatre and people come to you to take food/bev orders.

+hj's.

TRaffic Jammer 11-02-07 12:19 PM

happy finishes regardless of the film

2wheelsgood 11-02-07 12:56 PM

wow. this has all been very informative. thank you. my gf will be relieved as well.

well i certainly felt like stabbing a suv driver that tried to intimidate/buzz me on my way home. i'm really kicking myself for not handling the situation better. i did learn, however, that some ttc drivers will act as witnesses if there is an incident... it just helps to get the streetcar/bus number. it sucks that just because i didn't get "injured" that there's probably no point trying to pursue the matter further. so the driver will just continue thinking that he owns the road and can do whatever he wants. i could contine ranting, but just thinking about it increases my heart rate. happy bloody friday...

ps: the VIP varsity seats are like watching a movie in the front seat of a minivan times 100. i don't recall any (ahem) table service, but maybe i just arrived too late? not worth the $ to -not- be able to be close to my date, IMHO.

TRaffic Jammer 11-02-07 02:46 PM

Keith / ANYone.. do you know if cane creek hubs are sold by themselves?
